Hire one of the traffic ticket lawyer places and let them get it reduced .
Do NOT , DO— NOT — just mail in the money and plead guilty .

and use the WAZE app on your phone .
Keep it running in the background All the time , it gets annoying with it announcing “caution , vehicle stopped on shoulder ahead “
But it will also say “ Police reported ahead “

i use Google maps to look for slow traffic , backos and closures . I glance at it about every half hour or so .
But I keep WAZE running all the time , jist for the speed cops. i don’t make a habit of speeding , I usually set the cruise at 5 over , but I like to know where the revenue collection officers are camped out , because half the vehicles will jam on the brakes when they do at see the cop hiding .

    Contradictory statement is contradictory.

5 over IS SPEEDING. you make a habit of SPEEDING by setting the cruise 5 over every day, therefore you are HABITUALLY SPEEDING every day.

Back when I was driving I generally drove at the speed of the other traffic. If I was alone I generally put cruise at 58 and went on about my driving. I never had an issue with that in California.

When you were driving you never exceeded the speed limit? You're beginning to sound like another example of a driver who went to work in the office and suddenly became an expert on everything and took being overcritical to a new level.
    Lighten up.

CHP will generally leave drivers alone even if they’re doing 60mph..if you’re just moseying on down the road in the right lane they’ll generally leave you alone…start changing lanes back and forth and/or speed on the grapevine they’ll typically get you.

I didn't say that. What I will say is that I didn't set my cruise 5 mph over. Maybe a time or two in my personal car, but not in the big truck. I'd rather be late than never.

Yes and no. technically yes, but the cops in my state are greedy and money hungry and so corrupt the state had to pass a law that cops can’t write a speeding ticket for less than ten over.

So in my state five over is technically speeding but the cops can’t pull you over for it .
I also change lanes without signaling and remove the tags off my mattress and remodel my bathroom without a building permit .

I have been told that a truck tire with a full thread can affect the actual speed with regard to the speedometer over a nearly bare tire somewhere around 3mph. This is why there are built-in tolerances in most places. Same with weight and scale houses. One thing I have learned is that speed laws can be funny. In Georgia, a non-state patrol cop can't legally run radar on a hill with more than a 7% grade. State Troopers can though! Georgia code § 40-14-9. I have been told that Georgia is not the only state that separates Troopers from local cops when it comes to things like radar. This has always been funny to me. I have spoken to Georgia Troopers laughing at drivers using § 40-14-9. as a defense in court and finding out the ticket was legal and valid.

California is extremely strict with speeding. And 16 miles per hour will likely get you a ticket in Any State, thats quite a bit for a truck. Hills are no excuse, in fact, hills are probably the worst place to speed because you can loose your brakes going down if you start off fast at the top. I was taught, go down at a speed where you dont need brakes. If its 60, do 40 at the top with full jake and all else, gear down. Another thing about Cali, they got you on radar when you enter the scales. And the speed limits are like 15 miles per hour so watch out.

I think I’d tell the company
Explain that you were passing an excessively slow vehicle. Did t realize you went up that fast and that you’re going to lawyer up and fight it

IF you never had a speed or haven’t in a long time or have been with the company awhile I would assume you’re odds of getting a pass. Especially if they know you’re fighting and California is more interested in the revenue rather than the actual violation which gives you a pretty good chance it will be a fine and some other lower charge
But….. there’s probably a pretty good reason he put 16 over and didn’t reduce it. Unless he actually did and you were going more than 16 over??

A guy with a contrail coming off the back of his cattle pot probably knows a little about speeding tickets.
