It cranks, but takes several tries to get it to crank. Not sure if this is two different issues or one in the same. Just started the cranking issue about a week ago but the jerking has been going on for months. Miss our freightliner. Lol

Ok so he turns the key and the motor cranks or does it do nothing? If it cranks but doesn't fire after 3 or 4 seconds then yes definitely cups.

Check the small wire on the starter? My Volvo melted that one and it only made contact now and then. Finally it broke completely in to and wouldnt crank.

    Cpervanic Thanks this.

Have him check the battery cut off switch. If the truck came with one. They are exposed to the elements and tend build up resistance and cause wierd problems. But it sounds like 2 different problems.
