What gets me is they didn't replace the yoke. They used the same yoke. Apparently the lady didn't understand what she was reading when she told me what the mechanic did. All they replaced was a seal and an o-ring. The mechanic noted in the comments that she shaft has "less play". Nobody could answer me straight on what amount of play is tolerable, though. So, I am going to just run it and if something else happens, well, Detroit can take it up with the Freightliner shop and the mechanic that did the work. If there should be zero play, then that is what it should be. Not "less". At least he was kind enough to word it the way he did. Although the service advisor I dealt with told me that when it comes to warranty they have to be spot on with it or they don't get paid. So, I guess the mechanic followed whatever Detroit warranty protocol there is. I did check the play myself, and it was definitely less. It moved a hair and that was it or so it seemed.

Dealership noted the transmission serial number in order to get paid for their labor. So your trans is noted at 89K miles, with a bad output bearing/seal, and warrantied to 550K miles. 750K if you buy any EW4-5 warranty.

If Detroit replaced parts and said run it, then I would run it, and check it every PM.

And I wouldn't give it a second thought, other than check play every 30K miles if I was bored or heard something going down the road.

I will definitely be checking it. That technician already put them in the hot seat, if its not suppose to have any play and has "less" play now.

You must have PTSD from the old days of CAT. They would do that to you for sure. Tell you to write a big old check or toss your oily nasty engine parts in the cab and have you tow it out of there while it was well under warranty.

    KDHCryo and Stringb8n Thank this.
