So after calling around to make sure i was really getting a good deal everyone i called was around $4,150 for 8 fs560 in a 295/75/22.5 i called GCR tire and they are a full $1,000 cheaper WOW!! They dont have all of them but ill be rolling on new rubber this week!!
I don't see how SS would last very long on a spread axle, with as much as even duals wear due to dragging, unless you had a dump axle and could lift it
I'll say this fully loaded my truck with SS turns way easier you don't have two tires freighting each other, we put a tap on mine today the SS are the same width as two dual tires and if you think about it the wider the tire set up the harder to turn So with SS I have a 12" foot print and with duals I have 16"
You also have half the sidewalls scrubbing the pavement. Try not to accidentally dismount a front SS while you are making a tight turn
Not sure about the footprint, but I do know that with duals my dump trailer was 102" wide, but with the SS it was only 96" wide. If u look at ANY trailer, the SS give you a narrower track, and you will most likely have to extend the studs to accommodate the new dual wheels as most SS axles have short studs
It would make me do a double take in my mirrors when we first switched to ss on the hoppers. I would glance in the mirror and wouldn't see anything back there at first.
Where did you pick those up at and do they have any more. I am in the market for aluminum rims to convert my stepdeck from steel rims. I was told that to convert to 17.5 tires, you will need new axle ends, is this true? I am thinking about upgrading them anyway to the newest technology. Is there anything else I need to look out for with 17.5 tires?
If you have 22.5s now 17.5 more than likely won't work because the size of the brakes.....I went from 24.5s down to 22.5s
