It sounds like a decent plan to me. Yes people in other industries do get days off every week. I work 4 and get 3 off (non trucking) but I also have another job I work if I want which is quite often. And here's another kicker I've got a wife that works so I'm not the only income in the house either and that makes a difference and trust me I wouldn't have it any other way. This isn't the 1950's with June Cleaver in the house all day.

GDT I'm sure that's only for the drivers who live close to the terminal in OH so they can keep the truck moving. Probably the biggest thing keeping me at my current job is the vacation time I get every year. Over 5 weeks off. I don't need health insurance as my wife has that.

Also let's be realistic very few McDonalds jobs pay you $675.00 take home a week for 4 days.

They will do it for any driver in their hiring area as long as they have another driver who wants to share a truck with you.

Really? 24/7 or as in another response "as many bills as I have..don't want to flip burgers or tend bar?"

I drive legally/EOBR, home most weekends and maybe a few nights thru the week..I bring home on average $1,600 a week..

i have been doing this a long time.. Maybe to long..my response was geared towards the "newbies"

God bless, we all have to pay our dues..if you can raise a family, pay your bills and want for nothing on 250-300$ a week.. I applaud you.

If you require more than that..in the trucking industry..you will be required to stay OTR for weeks at a time..

If I'm wrong, prove me wrong..post your settlement along with verifiable experience.. Because I would truly appreciate EVERY new driver being able to be out 4 days and home 4 days making a livable wage..

    BTW.. What's this companies name?

we don't have to prove anything to you.

I just left a job driving a propane truck making $10 an hour and I barely made $80 less gross every 2 weeks than you figured up for 4 days pay. I will take the low pay of being a truck driver ty. I am going otr for the time being at least though

Realistic.. Ok, 675$ for 4 days take home..then you get 4 days off with no pay..start of a new week..yea! Oh no, the truck I'm slip seating is 1000 miles away, broke down, can't make it over a mountain because the other driver your slip seating with doesnt know how to chain..or the other driver abandoned the truck, whatever..crap happens..

What I am trying to tell you..in a 30 day period there are 7 1/2 four day periods.. Lets make math easy and say there are 8 four day periods..divided by 2 (drivers) that's $675x4=2,700$ per driver, per month. Minus expenses on the road..

    Bad money? No.

    Good money? Absolutely not.

That 675$ is a perfect world, maximizing your HOS, no break downs, drop/hooks..trailers clean, no trailer flats, lights working..

I don't believe there is a perfect world in trucking..but hell what do I know..

    I learn something new everyday.

You make me smile..your profile says you're not even a driver, but you have been a member for a few years..

It and you make no difference to me..I can only hope that simple multiplication and division is still part of our daily lives..

You offer a desire able work week but no actual cpm, cost of benefits etc..

I truly don't care.. I enjoy pointing out the down sides to a companies obvious ploy to use drivers for the companies benefit/profit while depriving the driver of a livable wage..

btw, I believe the 675$ a week was derived from MY cpm rate of .40.

Im still waiting for the companies name, location, cpm, and average miles per 4 days out.
