Run it....If I'm under 34,500, I usually don't sweat it. Most states will not mess with you over that. Some may, but 40lbs over, I wouldn't give it a second thought. Gas on it driver!

To all of you guys that 'Know it"............Let me work your brain with a good scenario...

    WHAT Would you Veterans do...........

I Loaded refractories a While back........I was told by the Borker that it was to be 45k...Well It ended up being 47 and some change..after I weighed it 35 miles away (closest scale)

    nevertheless....Heres What I weighed

    Gross- 80,140
    Steer- 11,300
    Drive- 34,260
    trailer- 34,300

Now...I want HONEST answers to what you guys would do.....(only drivers with a minimum of 5 years experience can answer)

This was a TUFF mind -blowing decision toi make,,,,,,,,,,PLUS I was already at half tank of fuel.....So I couldnt burn off too much weight

i didnt feel like driving back and wasting more time on a subpar load in the first place.....

So i ran with it...crossed 5 scales (2 were open).. Didnt get asked to weigh

WHAT WOULD YOU GUYS HAVE DONE?...My main concern was the Gross more than anything..

    HONEST ANSWERS ONLY...NO Smart Comments

I honestly would have went myself. Even at a half tank, 20 gallons burned would get you under gross or right at it and when I would fuel, depending on how close the next scale was, I would only put on 25-30 gallons at a time. A pita I know, but when you take that chance, it's basically the only way. Short answer...I would have went.

I probably would have moved the 5th wheel up one hole to move around 500 pounds to the steers.
That would have given me leeway to slide the tandems 1 hole to move 250-300 forward.

Leaving the steers at 11,300 is a waste of resources.

After 150 miles or so it would even be below 80k gross.

I would run it. The 35 miles back to the shipper would be the clincher for me. If it was only a couple of miles to go back and get some weight cut, that's would be a different story. I just couldn't justify a minimum of two hours off my clock, and unpaid at that, for 140 lbs.

Exactly...Thats what made this decision pretty difficult for me.........it would be a waste of Breath to try to get an extra $200 for inconvenience fees from that Borker

    You just cant win sometimes........

Run it. You're pretty much within tolerances. Heck the over gross is less than 1%. That weight might be the dirt on the scale.

By the time you burn fuel, drink your road warrior jug, whizz it out and take a mighty dump, you've shed that 140 lbs.
