Get a tune from Rebel127-after you talk with him and get all the info squared away on what hard parts you have, and what you desire to have for power.

was just informed that pistons, injectors, turbo are all different. there goes that idea. truck has ove a million km and i am unsure of the engine history so it would probably be a bad idea to get a tune

million KM is only 600K miles. I just had a tune done at 745K miles. Well over your Million KM.

Just make sure your engine is in top mechanical condition.

Get the overhead run, make sure the CAC and all intake is good along with Exhaust.

When that's all taken care of, get with Rebel, get the tune and enjoy driving again.

I had a guy try this once. he sent his ecm to someone for programming and it came back completely dead. so while he was trying to get a working ecm he used one from his brothers 500hp. the truck had very small injectors and the 500 hp ecm actually made things worse because the bigger 500hp injectors don't need as much pulse width to make 500hp as his injectors needed to make 430. so the result was LOW power

The old pre emission 12.7s are superb motors.
The 500's had mechanical differences though, from the 470/430's, etc. So it isnt an ECM swap kind of deal.
Unless you swapped all the needed parts over, would be a waste of time IMHO.
Settings are likely to be close, as the only real variable is the injector codes, which when all set to 75, IIRC, work great.
I would go for the custom tune in this case too.

You can put a 500 ecm on but if you don,t want to reprogram you,ll have to use a f/liner spec ecm because fan controls are set differently to other oem,s and diff ratio may not suit

you can use any ecm you want as long as you have someone who can set everything right. this is very common to do if someone gets a spare ecm
