it all might be just as the OP describes
the only thing is the company does what they do
for company benefit not the drivers
those 2 paths have run together so far apparently

i've had 5 family emergencies in 8 years and the longest it took for me to get home was 31hr's....
drivers make the same or more on the new sliding pay scale..... why..... because the lowest pay rate on the new rate is the same as the flat rate on the old pay scale..... i've run solo on both and made more on the new sliding pay scale
some do but thats few....... 1 company may pay 1000 miles at 48cpm = 480.00 and company 2 pays practical 1075 miles at 44cpm = 473.00 so company 1 pays more......
nothing personal but if your going to bash a company try to spell it right so we know who you are talking about

I hear Central Refrigeration's agility test involves the lifting of 75 lbs.

Don't pay any attention to the negative replies. There's probably a little truth to them but all in all, US Xpress isn't all that bad. I've been on the road for well over 34 years and have run into a few drivers from US and they were pretty much happy there. As with any trucking company, you'll never get rich driving for them but they have nice equipment and the pay, though it is not what I would drive for, is decent for one just starting out in this business.
Hang in there and put in your time and miles. Other opportunities will come your way as you gain experience and the money will get better. Good luck.

Regardless of who you were addressing, Crusty Crab, thank you. .... It's always nice to hear positive, encouraging words from good people.

We all know, mean people suck.

you confused me. First, you say you started with US Express right out of school but later you say you have worked with other corporate companies before bigger than US Express...which version is the truth?

And there is a reason that they (US Xpress) are spamming the hell out of Craigslist right now...
