say that to a dunkin donuts driver thats haulin a 53' trailer and god knows how many stops. you need a lumper if you're pullin a big trailer. every now and then i get a lumper on my truck when my route is really loaded up it makes a difference.

Most of DD trucks have lift gates(I would kill for one on the back of my trailer). I ran a 48' pulled by a sleeper for a
while here. Nothing like going out with 1000+ cases and 12 stops. And by myself(like I said WILL NOT TEAM IN THIS LINE OF WORK EVER AGAIN!)

As for the trailer starting and stoping; all are trucks have cycles on them. We set them like that unles there is a problem, then we run continues. ur newer trailers have a sensor that when you open one of the doors on the trailer, the unit turns off. It's a pain because it throws alarms if the door is open to long.

that is very truck. i got a brand new waltco liftgate on my truck, i normally only have to drop the tailgate once, grocery stores i obviously dont need to use it though, perfectly level its great! in the summer i went out with a ramp truck a few times and that sucks!!! i dont think i'd ever work at a company with a ramp truck it makes my job so much harder. i go out with an average of 300 milk case's a day, in the summer it jumps up anywhere from 400-500. thats pretty cool it shuts off when the door is open, those alarm's drive me nuts cuz i can hear it from the back of the truck sometimes. i dont know why i always get so mad when it goes off lol. and i'm right there with you i work best solo, i dont like telling someone else what to do and i'm not gonna be driving a truck and have someone tell me what to do. my supervisor went out with me a couple weeks ago and even he stepped back and let me do my thing which was nice.

How about pulling up to a customer that has 2 docks. you think one is open only to find a Big Rigger in the dock so Crooked that there is no way anyone can back in. then you have to wait 30 min. so you can get your 1 skid !!!

Yeah - I wouldn't want to bid any other way..

And BTW, as of January 17, 2011 I'll have a nice early city start time..lol..

Surprised a lot of people including myself, but it will be really nice to finish up everyday at 3 or 4 in the afternoon for a year..

kdryan, I am confused. In another thread you asked what skip shifting was or how to do it, yet here you state you are a driver trainer.

Are you saying you are training people how to drive but don't fully understand the concept yourself?

Where did I say I was a driver trainer? They just wanted me to show the new guy how to do the job. Sorry if I implied that; it wasn't intended.

If you mean skipping gears, I know how to do it down, I just wasn't aware you could do it up.
