You're an IC, they cant tell you what to do.
Tell them how you want to run and what suits you. If they only have cheap long loads going to Oklahoma and Texas I'd gtfo.

Looks like an extra 10 cents a mile to me. Because I was probably going to hit 9k any way

You could still get miles without having to do 800+ mile loads

Good point. I think I'm going to get a feel for the market for another week or so before I start making preferences known to my dm though.

These are the things you should know before hand. Things learned thru company driving, getting plenty of experience BEFORE buying a truck.

Company driving only pays a flat cents per mile rate though. How would that have helped me learn the different pay of different locations?

Well you already know a few bad ones.

Colorado, Florida, New England... it's always very cheap out of those places.

Never have known big money to come out of Mississippi or Alabama for Van either.

Bare in mind its okay to go to these places IF you get paid big money going in to make up for having to eat dirt leaving.

    RERM and Joe.go Thank this.

You are paying for it if it breaks, that 555 your paying for Plates, permits , prepass and maintenance about 300 of that they're taking for maintenance. On top of that anything that's not covered in the maintenance part of your contract you have to come out of pocket for more.

Better, you can do better still, but that's way, better than the first two ;)
