Local is the way to go. It is definitely work at times vs regional or OTR, but I don’t think I could ever go back on the road. Been local with a few layovers since 2017

I would disagree a bit, local isnt always the way to go depending on where you live, I can say first hand local work in central and south Florida is absolutely miserable with the level of traffic and awful drivers we deal with down here. Local work in BFE is definitely a good option, depending on your geographic location though the differences are night and day.

. The magic in local or regional is hourly pay. 3 hours to get from JFK to Bayonne NJ. No problem the meter is running so no attitude problems.

I only had to work half a day Saturday so I made 2 trips over to omaha on 80 and 680 to pick up a couple mowers and the insanity I saw just on that stretch was enough to re enforce my decision to exit otr .
Asking prices for mowers is finally starting drop to the point where I can make money on them , I plan to have at least 10 ready to sell next spring .
The 2 I just bought needed nothing but serviced and detailed and will double my money on them in the spring .

So what do you all like for steer tires? The 2 places I worked for prior used what they used, I didn't get a say in anything. Where I'm at now I have a lot more say over what happens with the truck maintenance wise. My only orders for the owner were "Get something good, I don't want any cheap Japanese #### on that truck"

Been on Bridgestone before and didn't really care for them. Firestone, which I liked but can't remember what model they were. Currently on Yokohama and really like them.

The shop I deal with recommends Michelin as being top of the line. They can get the Yokohamas I'm on now but don't stock them at all and I don't want to get into a tire brand that the shop doesn't carry regularly. They deal with:

    Michelin
    Bridgestone
    Firestone
    Continental
    Pirelli

    Suggestions??

. I’ve had good experiences with the top 3 always thought the Michelin handled the best.

I run Firestone FS591, really like them! Handle smooth and wear well, had mine just over a year now. My brother runs exclusively Michelin and swears by them, my dad has Continental on his. I drove dads truck for 2.5 years with Continental and have nothing bad to say about them either.
