I'm at orientation now and just did the road test about 10 mins ago it's not hard nice wide roads less than a mile in the freeway. I came here with my HAZMAT I think your better off to get it before you get here

Hello enicolasy, don't stress to much I had much the same deal and felt the same way, Magnum understand that and will work with you. The driving test is simply to demonstrate you can control a truck and do a straight back - your trainer will teach you more during your four weeks. Bumping a dock is simply a matter of getting straight and going slow, you'll be fine.

Hope to see you out there, have one more week to go myself before going solo.

Little trick to help float those gears. The speed your going add the numbers together for the gear. 15mph=6th or 35mph=8th. It works pretty well to get the sound of the engine, pressure on the pedal, and feel of the shifter all at once.

OK so after what seems like a long time, but in reality was only a little more than a month I have graduated and am now officially a Magnum driver. I feel very fortunate to have had my trainer Glenn, he was very patient with me and helped me work through my areas of weakness and as a result I feel much better about my first load tomorrow, heading from Grand Forks to North Carolina - the same load that I hauled last week with my trainer LOL. Then something to get me back to Indiana for some hometime.

I was lucky enough to be given my old trainers truck, a 2014 double bunk 587, I'll admit I miss the 2016 579, but it's nice to be in a familiar truck and one that I know how to shift very well - even ended up with a 2015 trailer so the first journey is starting off well. My trip plan should allow me to surprise my family for a quick visit on the way to NC - hopefully all goes well tomorrow and I can make it far enough to make the trip plan work.

Magnum is a great company, I had problems getting my fuel card to work and a couple of other minor issues and everyone I asked for help was ready to support me, its' weird after spending 25 + years working for major corporations as an executive to find a company who's values are as they state, now if we could just double the pay LOL.

Thanks for all of the supportive advice over the past few weeks, and I hope to run into you as we move freight around - the journey definitely begins now!

Congrats Winnyf1, just take your time, remember the things your trainer tried to instill in you, and enjoy the ride. Glad you got a decent truck, are the new trainer trucks Condo cabs, or midroofs? Any questions don't hesitate to ask.
