Exactly my #####, as I posted earlier, we have 8 Full Time trucks running Cali. we average just over 50,000 a year, in and out, it would have been VERY easy for me to purchase two more 06/07 trucks and split/manage/spread my mileage over the whole fleet to stay under the NEW proposed 5,000 per year threshold.

But because we were told, IN PRINT, that in no uncertain terms could we run any of our old trucks after the 1st of 2013, because we are over three truck fleet, then of course they bumped in to the 1st of 2014, so we went out and bought all compliant trucks.

If they bump this exemption up now, they literally cost us an uncalculable amount of money, not just the cost of the newer trucks, but also the additional maintenance and down time that goes along with them.

Since none of the smaller fleets or O/O guys that haul from my biggest customer were going to upgrade, we did so with the knowledge that we would have little if any competition for moving freight to the west coast.

Now, if they do grant an extension, for those that we not going to upgrade, it will cost us freight and miles both! We did EXACTLY, TO THE LETTER, what we were told we needed to comply, who makes me whole?

Bottom line, NEVER TRUST ANYTHING THAT ANY GOVERNMENT AGENCY HAS TO SAY.

the 10th isn't applicable I this case no matter how Cali tries to twist. Carb mandates restricting trucks registered out of state is a direct attack on interstate commerce. Regulation of interstate commerce is a specific enumerated power the states gave to the Feds.

That being said, given recent scotus rulings I wouldn't be surprised if Cali wins.

It's real simple....Out of state Carriers won't get "CA" printed on their Cab Cards....

I have already noticed some states pulling in CA Based carriers at the coops more so than they used to.....In the last two months I have been pulled in six times....And my CSA score has not changed....

I actually think ca rates will increase for a short period than take a dump.
Bcause u know when they increase everybody and there brother are going to get a ca compliant truck or if they already have one get over there and jump on the increased rates. Thus causing a increase in amount if trucks to haul loads, but the increase in trucks will be longer than the rates stay up and thats when those high rates will take a dump!

Yes but only for a vary short amount of time than the rates will dump(its more complicated than that) but for the most part yes the rates will increase and then drop

Are "they" giving thos compliant trucks away for free?.....

Brand new rigs are running between $135K to $150K.....And even a good used complaint '07 will still run you over $70K......

No not for free but the big companies are already "lease purchasing" them out. And they will start pushing for ca drivers on the promise of big bucks.

I did find out something interesting, if you have a 94 or 95 model year truck you are fine in Cali until 2016, then they want you to have a 2010 model year motor.

96-06 are done at the 1st of the year.

I thought that was pretty interesting, although from what I read it sounds as though I can not get into any of the ports or rail yards there.
