A question for those of you familiar with Grapevine

This was many years back, they had a van parked in the turn around lane and had the radar, set up they were nailing the trucks that sped up before the you passed the sign, I have not been there for a long time now but the sign then was on the flat. They were stopping the trucks about two miles down the road. Just a thought!

 

Googlesearch "traffic attorney kern county". Don't go with that prepaid legal BS they sell in truckstops.

It will cost you $500-1000 plus the bail.

I was cited in the same area back in 2006- Speeding and log book not current. Attorney got it dismissed and bail was refunded. Cost me about $600 in legal fees.

 

Thats why I never quit running a radar detector...

I run out there quite a bit...I have been running the Grapevine since the early 70's and have never gotten a ticket there!
How did that happen? You ask!

The answer is simple, By NEVER going over the speed limit there.

The signs are there and there is plenty of warning before you get to the actual speed limit reduction and still guys complain when they get nailed.
When you know the rules in advance and go ahead and break them anyway...It's on you!

You're gonna be found guilty, It's gonna cost you...But I'll bet you won't forget to slow down next time!

I got a speeding ticket one time, 15 mph over ... it was a new truck to the company and the boss man had told the mechanic to put a larger size wheel, rim and tires all the way around ... but they never changed the speedy-o-meter calibration to accomodate the larger wheels ... got the ticket reduced to improper equipment.

 

Actually you were speeding for the speed limit before the 35, after you come around the curve after the rest area, the sign says that the 45 mph speed limit is coming soon, then the 45 mph limit is for at least 1 to 2 miles before the 35 mph sign, sorry but!
The whole object is to keep you safe if you play by the rules, in this case the rule is be ready to be at 35 mph, like the military said when I was in the Navy, "I have not been told is no excuse:

 

hell yeah it's 55 from the hook to the straight a way near the fire station. Then it drops to 45 from there to the school on the EB side. Then to 35 all the way down. Sometimes there will be bears hiding in the rest area on the get on ramp next to the K rails or at the fire station exit or in the old brake check area before the school. They are everywhere up there. You picked the worst place to have a lead foot. That might be the most watched 10 mile stretch in CA.

 

I don't get what you're getting at here.?. Unless you meant to type 35mph speed limit instead of 45.?.

Like I said before, I had the cruise set for 45 for the duration of the 45mph stretch. There was a bear hiding behind an overpass standing outside his vehicle shooting trucks with radar, during said 45mph/limit stretch and he had no issues with me... because I was not speeding then (maybe 2 whole MPH over the limit). The 35mph stretch (which is obviously after the 45mph stretch) is where I didn't get slowed down fast enough and another bear got me. The 2nd bear that got me wasn't more than 1/8-1/4 mile from the first one.
