Personally I don't know why anyone else pulls any thing but tanker. I'll be a tanker yanker till the day I get out of the truck. I've pulled van, reefer and flat but I'll never go back to any of those. The reasons are the same as everyone else's. I think I knew my first week of tanking that it's what I wanted to do from then on.

I agree 100% with this. I also feel the same way, I love it and will not go back to flats or Boxes

So I wonder why companies like Schneider and CTL require these over the top physical agility tests such as lifting 50lbs (Schneider ) 75lbs ( CTL) over your head for x amt of reps? If anything you have to not be afraid of heights and have the ability to climb ladders. Please don't tell me it's because they want health conscious drivers...

I guess it's all relative, those aren't over the top to me.

I've had to do agility tests with every company I've worked for. It's nothing over the top. You have to be able to show them you can do your job

Then we agree. There should be tests to make sure one is capable of doing the job. However, this thread proves that having to lift 50 + lbs of weight over your head is not necessary. I personally believe that more brain than brawn is required for the job.

I believe this specific tactic is used to weed woman away from this great paying position. I am not saying that there aren't woman out there that would do what ever it takes to get past this "test" . I am just agreeing with what has already been said with in this very post. Certain physical abilities is not required.

The purpose of the tests are to show that you can lift 50 lbs over your head in the case of putting a duffel bag or something up into the cab. It's relevant and It's pretty paranoid to think it's aimed at weeding out women.

Exactly!!! I can lift my 70 pound tarps but I don't. I will lean then up against something then pick up the bottom end and flip onto whatever. My tarps are rolled up for that reason and look like a 5 foot long hot dog.

Hoses can be heavy when capped with product in them. You have to be able to get them on a hose rack or in a tank tube. Walking hoses on a pump unload is over the head lifting. Makes sense to me. Its like being able to climb up in the trailer for box drivers.
