So glad you're there for your mom RC. Although it didn't turn out the way I hoped, I'm glad I could be for mine. :)

Ok, the heavy duty cord (at least 12 gauge) is a must. Check. Now you need to find an outlet that is NOT "GFI" (Ground Fault Interupt) to plug your truck into. That circut will trip at the slightest hint of power surge and the resulting electrical arc can cause havoc on these truck systems. As long as the truck system is ok, 5 will get you 10 between the cord and a different outlet, your troubles will fade away. ;)

You betcha!! It't like military training. I forgot 75% the day I stepped off your rig but it comes back as I need it in the field. ;)

That's an excellent thing to be doing.
There is a wealth of knowledge and experience here and many are very willing to share it too. I know I have certainly benefited and continue to benefit from it.

When do you start CDL School and where?

Ya, trucking doesn't match well with the care of a loved one... That fact that you are doing BOTH is a testament to your abilities and the love of family.

I agree with JB, the very definition of an everyday hero... This world needs more.

Prayers to you and your mother.

So a funny thing happened yesterday.... I got a very polite call from my FM wondering why my miles were down.... I guess I popped on someone's list.. LOL

Ironically I was just in the process of writing an email to him about the same thing.

I explained some of the things I was hitting and being dispatched differently blah blah blah

I get simple Drop n Hooks but I had not been getting the Hook Order until I waited around wasting time and then going to park for the night then the Hook Order comes the next day.

And I have been running a bit more relaxed too but mainly cause it seemed to me we were getting light on loads in some areas and those loads were being stretched out to keep drivers rolling albeit slower.

He said that wasn't the case and would address it... And thanked me for the information from the flip side.

So yesterday I not only had the Hook Order to match the Drop Order but it was PrePlanned.

Drove to my drop, then hit the hook without any wasted down time and headed out towards Indy and consumed my full 11 prior to shutting down for the night.

So much better flow when the info hits the drivers in a timely fashion and we can act instead of wait.

Also a great example of one making assumptions, me, and the power of simple good communications between Driver and FM.

This paycheck is so going to suck... LOL

GFCI, or Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter, is correct. I am a retired electrician. It could have been that your old cord was bad. It happens.

Awesome... Feel free to ask us questions during school too...

And remember, a lot of the goal of a school program is getting the piece of plastic in you wallet... Like a diploma... A lot more REALISTIC learning comes once you start driving... Then it starts to click.

But maybe that was just my school... LOL
