I was talking to BigBrin last night, we both agreed that the mentor list is a great idea, couple that with this blog we have and there's a wealth of useful information, advice and help here. I learned a long time ago, I don't have all the answers and on more than one occasion I need outside help, so I'm not that proud that I can't ask for it. I don't think there was anyone in worse shape then myself with the learning curve here when I started, and believe me, I asked for help and got it.

I'm sitting here in New Bern Nc waiting on my door to back in. Getting here the night before and checking in 2 hours early means absolutely squat. And to boot, I'm the only OTR truck here. I need to get back to Richmond today to get my truck serviced, and this armrest fixed, I just can't seem to get the hang of no armrest, almost falling out of the seat every day is getting old. Also I need to pick up my new trainee Tim that's been waiting patiently for me to show up.

Gotta get off this late night merry go round. Too hard to find parking for the night and again wind up in a parking area. The exit ramps at rest areas are saving me the last two nights. Out here in Springfield Illinois. Arrived to DOT foods at 7pm st. Three hours to get a door and two more to get unloaded. Of course my backing will make a comedic youtube video, but got it done without hitting anything. Still went over my 14, but not my 11. Nothing out Mount Sterling so drove to Springfield since I haven't heard from dispatch, to find food and shelter. Those guys at DOT didn't even shut my roll up door. Didn't realize it until I got to the Loves and got my burger. First solid food in 36 hours. Won't make it home for home time in time, but I realized it when I took the load. No big deal in my case, as long as I can get by the house for a couple of days,it'll be okay.Still no word from dispatch, but I can't move for a couple of hours anyway. Gotta get fuel and a shower. Tick Tock Tick Tock...........

Good job buddy! Is there a YouTube video?.... Lol. Remember what I always told you, at the end if the day, if you didn't hit anything, it was a good day, the rest will fall into place. Make sure you put in the remarks as to why you went into violation, looking for a safe haven. Be safe my friend, call if you need anything.

Finally got empty at 2pm. Unreal. 36 refrigerators, exactly 35 minutes to unload, but 2.5 hours after my appointment time they decided to back me in. While I was sitting there my reload came over the Qualcomm, after my dead head move back to the yard, I have a trailer sitting there with 2 drops, the first one Monday at 10am in Jackson Hole Wyoming, the second one in Nampa Idaho on Tuesday. I'm leaving out at 6am in the morning, my truck is just about done getting its service, and Tim, my new trainee will be here at 5:30am. I'm going to the motel for the night.

You can stay in the back lot at DOT. Always check your doors. Hall's and most places don't close them.

As I said before, sometimes you get stuck in this industry. This morning when I left the yard Bo and Jeremy were working on 30 swaps. We have more freight than drivers right now. Also again, has he put in his home time macro? If he has home time coming he will get it.

Mommy6, I had a mod send you my phone number. I'm sure if you or your husband calls me I can help you with your issues.

Truck out of the shop, full service and my armrest issue is resolved, now I can remove the hot pink duct tape holding it in place. Bed time, 6am will be here rather quickly. Good night all.

Well my "driver" husband waited about 13 hours (between waiting for a door and being loaded) with some kind of meat. I forget where he loaded, know it was approx 45 miles west of Mount Sterling, IL. First, he had to get his trailer (refer) washed out (about 2:30 pm EST) then sat waiting for the door for his load until 10-ish. Finally loaded, cab rehooked to trailer, heading out at 4:15 am! What a fiasco!!! At least he slept while his trailer was being loaded.

My mom is still in the hospital, nearly 3 weeks now. My dad is in a nursing home due to dementia. When it rains, it pours! George is late getting home time, due to his back haul taking so long, etc. I don't have children at home, am home alone (yikes!), and it stinks that George isn't here. Originally he was to have home time when Big Brin took his, due to training. When assigned his "piss yellow" freightliner, he informed them he needed hometime and Lord willing (and as my dearly departed g-ma used to say: "and the creek don't rise"), he will get home time once his load is delivered to the yard. I know I'm not a driver, mommy6, but your husband could call dispatch, or someone at Abilene, and discuss that he's been out 3 weeks without hometime. Possibly it's a miscommunication. From what I've read on the forum and heard, the company is supportive of family time.
