I would advise getting an empty weight the first chance you get. This will be very helpful to you.

If you the slick side GD's with plywood walls, they ARE heavy. I pull a 45' GD that's 1000 lbs heavier than our new Wabash 48's. Go figure.

Holed up in a Pilot in Youngstown, OH. Had a cooler to deliver to someplace around here, but nobody is there after 5pm, and I rolled in at 8pm. Appointment isn't until 8am tomorrow, so I'm early. But was hoping they'd be able to unload me early so I could take advantage of the 5 hours I have left on my clock to start on my trip to some bowling alley in Michigan to deliver a pin-resetting machine.

Was told by Alan this afternoon to drop my trailer in Atlanta, log out of the elog, and BT to Houston for my home time.

This sounds 9 levels of wrong to me. And the regs seem to forbid this.

    Reactions?

Agreed. I'd like to get 3. We have Wabash, Great Danes (each with wood floors) and of course reefers. I'd like to know what each empty setup weighs.

Sounds fine to me and it would seem he's trying to get you home for your home time? Perhaps they don't want you to leave? Remember bud, when not under load, that bobtail is as good as your car.

It just doesn't sound right to me. What if I get stopped or pulled in for a log inspection?

They'll inspect up to your last "logged" trip. If your not dispatched, your not under load or held to HOS. Let me ask, was this Alan J or another "Alan" there that told you this?
