No, drop the empty, hightail it back to the yard and ask at the window for another load. That is my SOP whenever I drop an empty at either of the HP locations or Sabra.

 

That's what has been happening the last few years. Things seem to change on a daily basis around here, can we say fueling at Loves? When I went through orientation back in April of 2013, the SOP was to drop an empty, check the mail boxes for any load that is loaded going north or west and bring it to the yard. I haven't been notified of any changes so that's what I do.

 

If that is what you and others have been doing then that would go a long way towards explaining how trailers that are supposed to be at a plant are winding up at the yard. Then you get the new guys like me who were never informed of that procedure wasting time driving around the various plants looking for trailers that aren't there.

Maybe we should have something like a driver's meeting where all these procedures can be standardized and publicised to all drivers so everyone is on the same page. Speaking of page, maybe there could be a printed handout made available to those drivers unable to attend the meeting so they don't have to wander about the yard asking who went to the meeting and what was discussed there.

 

That would keep your from coming forward OUT of the bunk - but not from flying around in that space. Though in a rollover - what happens is anybody's guess.

NUMBER ONE RULE: ALWAYS CHECK THE RICHMOND YARD FOR ANY TRAILER COMING OUT OF ANYPLACE LOCAL BEFORE GOING TO CHECK ELSEWHERE.

Said it gajillions of times. Saves a lot of time.

 

If you like eastern NC style BBQ, and go to the Barnes yard in Wilson (or heck even drive by on 95th street), go a couple miles south to Parkers BBQ. Has truck parking in dirt lot right next to it. Been going there all my life! Yummy!!!!

 

At least they waited until after Halloween... {sigh}

 

Yup... first hand experience for me... twice!!!

 

Note to Self: make a note of this

 

While I didn't do that in training, I would prefer to take my chances restrained inside the bunk area rather than the cab in general.

But let's all try our best not to test it for real.
