Abilene Motor Express....A New Place To Call Home

I think I'd be 60/40 (40 milk it). Though it seems sitting is what I'm doing, so maybe I should just milk the heck out of it should I ever get a local job. Picked up a load at Givens Friday and got to the yard with it around 3 pm. Nothing going on. I could've stayed on that load, spent the night at home and run with it, but nope. Instead I sat at the yard Friday night. Was given a FL load for Monday which wasn't ready. Checked back in Saturday morning and it still wasn't ready so was given a load to take out to W Memphis. Wish I would've been able to just continue on with it to Riverside, but... So now here I (and a couple others) sit in W Memphis and guess what? Nothing heading east. 125 miles Friday, 546 Saturday and 288 today. Yeah, that's not cool. And they wonder why I get irritated with them!?!?

 

I like driving, I hate sitting around. Hourly or CPM I would still run just for something to do.

 

The past few weekends have been slow. This past week has been especially bad, lots of short runs with jacked up hours.

 

I know everyone experience is different on the weekends but for me, it's not really worth it to work on the weekends. True, I am working at this very moment, but I got a 585 load for sat, sun, delivery for Monday am. So I just relax and drove a little 300 miles yesterday and the rest today. I had a 15 hour break last night. I'm definitely going to be putting my x-box back on here.

 

Yeah thought I was the only one,have noticed a decline in miles the past 3 weeks,hoping this doesn't become the norm.

 

Friday I waited almost 7 hours for a load that at the end was cancelled by shipping!
Today I won't mention even what's going on!
I'm going to go relax now... Will be doing some "DEF" Yoga that I learned from "Redtwin"

 

I don't think is due to a lack of freight. Lately I have had a few loads dispatched by AKJ so I suspect admin staff has been short or things are being changed up.

As bad as this week has been, I am not worried about it being a long term situation. Just luck of the draw or the alignment of the stars or whatever.

 

Amazon is bulking up their staff even now in preparation for the holiday season. I suspect we're just in a temporary lull as people get back to school and everyone is bracing themselves for the holidays.

 

I think Don was on vacation this week, too.

And last Monday was a holiday, of course. Only two DMs, one dispatch, and Cam in the office this past Monday.

 

Any of my fellow drivers that live in or near Richmond tell me what they’re calling for this week with this hurricane?
