Abilene Motor Express....A New Place To Call Home

Had a great turkey day here. Spent time in the woods with my Dad, brother, two nephews, and watched my niece take her first buck!! Such a relaxing day away from the road and time well spent. Doing our family meal tomorrow night. Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Heads up, folks. Got pulled into a Wyoming Point of Entry yesterday and was informed that even though my IRP/IFTA registration had an enforcement date of 1/1/19 it had expired last month and as such was no longer valid. When informed of the officers assessment, Safety faxed over the same page as the officer rejected from my book. Hijinks ensued, of course, but eventually the new page, which Abilene had not planned on dissiminating until the first of next year, was emailed to me and the officer was satisfied by that. I don't know if it was just a case of the DOT officer getting a badge ##### or what but it's something to bear in mind until the new permit books are available.

Strange how different states interperate the same thing. I was pulled over last year in Illinois for an inspection and all the officer said was make sure the new sticker is on by the enforcement date. I’m guessing it’s because your inspection was done in the POE and mine was on the side of the road. Your dude was nice and warm, mine was probably freezing his arse off.

 

Sho' nuff does. Specifies effective, expiration, issue, and enforcement dates. In this case, "Expires 10/31/2018".

 

I didn't even get inspected. Just pulled in and directed inside to show registration. They weren't even interested in my BOLs. At least if I had been inspected I would have gotten the new bonus for passing.

 

I was parked at the "Area 51" The place is big enough to fit about 10 trucks or more with no problems at all. When I woke up at 2:00 A.M the where only 4 trucks park with me in the same direction and one! Lazy careless truck driver that decided to park right in front of my truck at an angle!
I said to myself.. How can a person be sow incredibly! Inconsiderate!
I did my usual routine and got ready to leave... When the driver gets out to take a leak on the floor, next to his truck with no concerns about the property or anyone! The bathroom at the store is open and just 5 minutes away and is open 24/7.
This is the kind of person that gives all driver's a bad name. No wonder many stores like Walmart and others don't let us park at there places.
Well before I left... I had to turn ON my head lights! And finish drinking my tea!
Sorryyyyyyy! I hope he got the message!

 

Hey does anybody know,if they'll come messing with you at the service plaza's on the fl turnpike if you stay the night?
