Shortest tenure in a new truck. 1hour. Going to Laredo Tx with 5 drops in my KW. The new 860 Volvo is in the shop for a coolant leak, air leak, non working inverter, windows go down but not up and no dash lights. Gotta love the UAW.

The 18 was pretty good, until the transmission went out. Didn't leave us stranded anywhere though, never towed. It was down for a whole month to get that trans replaced.

Small coolant leaks, I just tightened the clamps as they popped up. Don't know why they went back to these old worm drive clamps.

Sounds to me like a QC inspector at Volvo needs to be fired.

Someone does. From what I found out from the 2 Volvo mechanics here at our yard, 90 percent of the new trucks are having these same issues.

They are but I’m not assuming they run identically. Maybe they bought Abilene, and other small companies... to look at other ways of running instead of rolling something out across the larger company.

If you find that the seats bounce you around like a carnival ride, I was able to find the cure. There is a slider on the left, this is dampning. All the wa6 forward is maximum stiffness, all the way back is ridiculous.

So, were you switching from a KW to a Volvo?

I was. Not anymore. Will be going into my third KW in a row when I get back. I’m a firm believer that if a brand new truck can’t make it off the yard without problems, then it isn’t looking good for it’s life span while in my possession. I’ll just keep what’s been good to me. I don’t care what reputation a truck has.

Or maybe these are really $145K throwaway trucks that aren’t designed to last more than 3 years. I really don’t have an issue with GM downsizing and getting rid of the excess weight called the UAW, it’s quite obvious by the issues these brand new trucks have at our yard someone wasn’t doing their job. Just like the so-called braintrust wants robots driving these trucks, maybe all these truck/car manufacturers need a few more robots in their line of work.
