The camera in the truck I drive now constantly monitors your driving. It detects speed, following distance etc. The one that surprised me is that it knows where stops signs are and if you don't come to a complete stop before the white line it registers, as you going through a stop sign even if you stop after the line.

I had multiple infractions for following distance which is always a struggle to maintain in heavy S. FL traffic on I 95. It has gotten to the point where I am paying more attention to counting seconds to measure the gap to the vehicle in front rather than overall traffic.

Don’t you just love that contraption?

The Bendix setup we have only has following distance, lane departure, and reading the speed limit signs. Fortunately though, it isn’t monitored.

The stupid thing will read speed limit signs on frontage roads and say you’re speeding. It will also read route signs like those on US-50, and the yellow signs for off ramps and say you’re speeding.

    Alrighty then...

No... driverless trucks will come with all the sensors and no “driver facing cameras” anymore ... that’s the last component... someone steering...

So I was playing around the other day...

Oh crap, I totally forgot that there might be Non CDL Executives here reading this...

What I meant to say... is... eh... uh... I mean not playing around... I was... uh... er... discovering the capabilities and identifying the limitations of my company owned CMV... ya... ya... that’s the ticket...

So, back to the story... I was playing around and decided to run in manual mode through the hills and valleys of our northern route... seeing what a difference it makes vs crawling in auto mode... (boy, the placement of the gear buttons is very unhandy... betting that’s for a reason... lol)

So anyway... I’m manual mode my truck is governed at 65 in 11th gear... I can drop into 11th above 65 if in auto but limited to 65 in manual.

Now I know why they do that... but thought it interesting... all kinds of changes while I’ve been gone... LOL

    Meanwhile, driving vampire tonight!!!
Wish I had a longer nap but that didn’t happen.

Heading towards Home Time in South Florida via the WM Yard... ya, not ideal but I’m heading in the right direction if not a few days late.

hey @Redtwin I’m home for five days. Open for lunch, dinner, or adult beverage?

If you’re going to Volvo in Jacksonville, let me know. I’ll tell you how to drop after hours.

    No clue at this point.

I’m back on the WM Yard with engine issues. Some of the same issues and a few new ones too.

As we discussed, my Truck was going to derate in “60 minutes”... I stopped to do a Parked Regen but that’s not an option with “codes” on the truck.

And turns out that after the “60 minutes“ and a failed attempt at a Parked Regen, one actually has another “180 minutes” of warnings prior to dropping power to a 5 mph crawl.

And, par for this course, Volvo called the shop... in WM I thought as that’s where we were talking about getting me to... or the local dealership... but of course no one here was aware of the issues... lol
