In the past few months I have noticed that a lot of rest areas in I-40 are close for reconstruction.
Question... Does anyone know if there is a website that we can find out what rest areas are being close and not find out by chance?

I think Knight has something against being able to drop your bags. Cheap SOB’s.

And yet it has a in cab fifth wheel release.

...it’s just so much better to hear the cannon blast after they’ve overextended too many times.

In other news, did you know we now have on-site DOT physicals every Monday and Wednesday at the main yard? I didn't until today. They're mainly for the new recruits who start orientation on Mondays or Wednesdays, but anybody else that needs a physical can also get one.

My DOT card expires at the end of the month, so I'm in the market for a physical. So I figured I would take advantage of this new service. Talked to the lady (I suspect she's a nurse, not a doctor) and found out there were four other people ahead of me.

"So, rough estimate, how long do you think it will take to do those four folks?"
"Well, I don't know, it's hard to say."

And this always gets on my nerves, because they don't want to give you a time frame because they're afraid you're going to come back to 'em and hold their feet to the fire over it. "You said it was going to be an hour and a half, but it's been an hour and forty minutes!"

But I'm not looking for a commitment or a guarantee or a signed contract. I just wanna know if we're talking a 30-minute wait or a 2-hour wait? Because if it's gonna be closer to two hours than 30 minutes, there's stuff I could be doing instead of sitting on a bench with my thumb up my keister. Like, for example, moving out of my old truck and into my new one.

"Look, I'm not trying to pin you down. I just want a ballpark idea of the timeframe. Because what I don't want to do is sit on that bench for two hours when I could have been moving stuff out of my truck for two hours. On the other hand, if it's only going to be 30 minutes, I can wait for 30 minutes."
"How about an hour and a half?"
"Okay, great, thanks. I'll be back in an hour and half."

Came back an hour and a half later and sat on the bench. She came out, saw me, said "Oh, I have one more patient to do, and then I have to leave for the day. Can you come back Wednesday?"

DEFINITELY glad I spent that hour and a half moving my stuff out of my old truck, because I would've been RILLY pist if I'd gotten told that after sitting on the bench for an hour and a half.

Yeah. My Knight Prostar would get caught under trailers in sloped docks. It was a PITA.
