Waiting in the truck for next load, at home? Nah, not that important, they need me, they can find me someplace else. Only speaking from experience.

    Lonesome and MidWest_MacDaddy Thank this.

I’m with JB on this - if OTR. Me, I wait in in my truck cause - hourly. When I text dispatch that I’m ready, I start my clock. Doesn’t matter to me if it takes him 10 minutes or 2 hours to find something.

So you wait at home until you know your next load? I called that id be back in the Truck and ready to roll at 8am... but then I wait for the load... which did come but I couldn’t roll until 11:30ish due to pickup appointment was 7pm.

but I also have to coordinate a ride to the truck so before the “still mrs” goes to work seems to be the best option... but Uber might work too.

    JohnBoy and Finfn1372 Thank this.

Man, I saw all seasons of weather on this trip to Sumner WA. Started out in Fall, then Winter in Wyoming with snow and ice then spring in Utah, Idaho and Oregon with rain then summer when I hit Washington as it is sunny and 80 here, lol!

JohnBoy, RebelChick and Finfn1372 Thank this.

My truck is parked 3 miles from my house. There’s no way in hell I’d sit in my truck and wait on these people. The end of business the day before and they hear from me, the next morning I load up the car and make breakfast. While eating I call in and let them know I’m ready. That’s the last time we communicate until they advise me of a load assignment.

Ah... so they then call you... ok
Maybe I’ll try that next time.
But then I still have the ride issue.

Costco refused my entire load due to it shifting....shrink wrap is not going to hold printers stacked all the way to the roof on a pallet across the country. Whoever picked this load up should have put straps or bars across.....or HP should have used 2x4's in those plastic brackets that stick to the wall. Supposed to start hometime but guess I gotta wait for them to decide what to do with this refused load.....

I delivered an HP load in Portland yesterday from San Bernardino. They put those braces in. They work great. You’d think with all the high value nonsense we go through hauling these loads, the least they can do is secure them properly. Especially for a long trip.
