Stopped at flying j at exit 39 in NM for 30 min break and go in to use the bathroom and big signs on the door requiring a mask to enter and a big security guard kicking you out if no mask. This mask bs is getting annoying. If you are that scared then stay home. Requiring everyone to wear a mask takes supplies from medical personnel and first responders that actually need them. Rant over.....

It doesn't take supplies from medical personnel because most people are not wearing medical masks. I just wear a cloth one which satisfies the requirement.

Technically, they aren’t recommending wearing them to protect the wearer as people who wear them are actually less protected than not wearing them because they “think they are safe” and are less likely to wash hands, not stand 6’ away, etc and if You touch the mask then you have cross contaminated

the reason they began recommending wearing them is because people are asymptomatic before getting sick... so if you have it and don’t know it, wearing a mask helps keep the sick person from spreading the virus.

But ya, hassle.... I hate breathing with a mask on and my glasses steam up... lol

I have exactly 1 minute left on my 70. I get 7:38 back tonight.

    My receiver is 8:47 away.

Delivery appointment time is 8:00am tomorrow.

If I hit the road at midnight, I will once again run out of my 70 by...let's call it 7:30am tomorrow morning. I won't be able to legally move the truck again until midnight tomorrow night. And I'll still have another 1:15 to drive before I get to the receiver.

I brought this circumstance to the attention of HQ some six hours ago. Have not heard from them since.

I don't like driving overnight. I know this lowers the esteem in which I am held by my fellow truckers, because we're all supposed to be big tough truckers who can drive any time of day or night. But there's no help for it. I have a very firm sleep cycle which doesn't allow me to get good sleep during the day. I might pull off a 20 minute catnap after lunch, but if I crawl in the bunk at 1:00pm with the intent of getting several hours of sleep so I can safely drive overnight, it ain't gonna happen. I'm just gonna lie there wide awake for 9 hours and then struggle to stay awake while driving a 40-ton commercial motor vehicle when I finally have to put her in gear.

If I have to do that to make on-time delivery, I will. I don't like it, and it ain't real safe, but I will truck as long as I can to make on-time delivery.

But if I'm gonna be late anyways no matter what I do? Especially if I'm gonna be 17 hours late?

Screw it, I'm gonna get a good night's sleep.

Don’t tell anyone, but I get ill when I have to drive overnight. Didn’t like it 40 years ago, and despise it today.

Shirley could sleep any time of day or night. Had no trouble crawling in the back at 8:00am and sacking out for hours and hours. Definitely envied that about her.
