Thankfully when they did get me a dock door they had me unloaded quick. Then bounced over to Richmond, IN for a load of 55 gallon drums of oil which Ill drop in WM tomorrow and get my truck looked at then off to Reno for Monday. Definitely feeling the little bit of surge but no where near as bad as food grade tankers I used to pull thankfully.

I wasn’t going to share this, but I’m bored and waiting on my COVID test results for both my wife and myself to get back. I’ll either be coming back out on Tuesday or in 2 more weeks. Short story, came down with a few of the symptoms 2 days ago, wife is fine, so we went to get tested.

Here are my year end totals. These are solely my numbers, I’m sure there are drivers here that made more, were gone more, and so on. Before anyone puts in their opinion, understand that I live in South Florida, have been driving at Abilene for just about 8 years, get home when I want for as long as I want, drive new equipment, and I’m left alone to do the job I was hired to do. I run where I want, including Canada and the northeast, and never turn down a load. Hell, I’m on vacation this past week and came out in the middle of my vacation to deliver my Christmas home load I was under for a week. I chained for the first time here on my load out to Sisters Oregon. I do what I have to in order to deliver the freight. When I’m done, I go home and enjoy my home, family and life.

    154,250 miles......................70,995
    3 days layover...........................450
    3 weeks vacation.................... 4095
    Monthly mileage bonus...........2323
    Monthly safety bonus..............1542
    Year end mileage bonus..........1542
    401K match..............................3000
    Total.....................................$83,947

These totals are a little less than last year, but I took off a lot more. Between hometime and vacation, I was home a total 15 weeks. The worst part of this year? My wife and I had to cancel a 2 week trip to Greece and the Greek Isles and a 2 week cruise to South America where we were going to see her relatives in Rio de Janeiro.

Abilene/Knight or whatever else you want to call it is a complete package for me that isn’t based solely on CPM. I’ll say this again, if they don’t run me off, I’ll retire here in another year or so.

Hoping for a speedy recovery for you JB if you test positive. Your numbers are in line with mine for the year and the only real difference is I’m just out 5 days a week. I tail gate my freight for a private fleet. The secret is have a good attitude. Mega fleet or private you can always be successful. Good luck in 2021 and hope all is well.

Thank you my friend. My attitude for my job at hand is always positive, for the industry? Not as much. Like I always say, I love my job, but despise what this industry has turned into. Safe, healthy and prosperous new year to you and yours.

Pulled into a rest area for my 30 min break yesterday morning and watched a pickup truck with a uhaul trailer go in front of the truck spaces and try to back into a spot instead of pulling through. He kept jackknifing it then finally got frustrated I guess and left it that way and stomped on the gas and pushed the uhaul trailer back with it jackknifed then parked it and went inside. It amazes me the amount of ppl that rent those things and have no clue what they are doing while pulling and backing that trailer.

Does Abilene use driver facing cameras?
