Sitting at the TA in Boise finishing up a reset. I’ll leave at 0300 in the morning to drive the 325 miles across US 20 in central Oregon to my delivery in Sisters Oregon.

This is how I enjoy my job, leave the house after hometime, run my clock out in 5-6 days or close to it, take a reset to rehab these tired bones, then do it again. The idea of running 9 hours a day every day is not very appealing to me.

Thankfully the rain melted all the ice, do my pti and get rolling early this morning and had to put my wipers on high for a bit and my left wiper blade comes off and won't stay clipped so low til I get a new one on. Get sent a preplan to an office depot in Ohio for 0400 delivery tomorrow, hot load, only thing is I couldn't make it til after 0500 no matter how I ran it so got a gatorade load instead to indy after dropping in Wytheville. Get told to grab a certain empty but said empty was loaded and not empty. Bobtail to gatorade and the loaded trailer has a flat tire, now the waiting game for TA to come fix the flat.

Finally got out of Gatorade at 1900, ended up needing two tires replaced. The completely flat one on the outside had a huge bolt stuck in it and the inside tire that wasn't so flat on the same duel had a nail sticking out of the sidewall.

    Lonesome Thanks this.

Yeah, I always check that the left door opens and shuts, and the steps still support my weight climbing in or out of the cab

Lonesome, jarhead0311 and Finfn1372 Thank this.

I like that a driver can make the job work their own way. For me, I like doing 8-9 every day when I'm running the road, which I seem to be running the road half the time now despite still being "short haul" and I've been thinking about just going back to full time.

I like recaps, because inevitably there will always be a day or two when I have to run my hours out, and then I like having a really short day where I still moved the truck down the road a bit to make up for the longer days, so I don't feel restless for a whole 34, and still feel like I did something that day

    48Packard, jarhead0311 and Finfn1372 Thank this.

I'm the same. Would rather run 8-9 hour days every day and skip the 34. Having an extra couple of hours of downtime every day is much more useful to me than piling them all up for one day. Plus, I like not having to fight to get a parking space.
