That happened to me my first year at Abilene coming north on 95 at the NC/Va line. Poor egret never had a chance. Hit the windshield trying to get enough lift. I mean we were eye to eye. He was flapping his wings as hard as he could. Hit him square in the middle of the windshield just like the picture here. Slid towards the drivers end, got caught on the mirror bracket, I’m trying to push him away, he finally falls on the roadway, gets run over by my trailer tires, feathers flying all over, then gets run over by the truck behind me. This, was the most horrific death of an egret imaginable. To this day I’m not really sure what killed him, hitting my windshield, getting run over by my trailer, or getting run over by the truck behind me. In any event, dude was toast.

Well, darn, interstate 44 shutdown eastbound at 63 mm, shut down earlier than planned cuz I didn’t want to trust the detour set up. Supposedly to get freezing rain over night here so may be sitting tomorrow cuz I guarantee haji and gang will screw it up for everyone speeding on ice. Might have to reschedule this load for Tuesday. Snow I don’t mind but ice is a whole different game.

Load rescheduled for Wednesday at 1100, decided to play it safe with the freezing rain this morning and parked it. Trucks in the ditch on side roads and cars spun out on ramps.

Kind of glad appt was rescheduled for Wednesday since it gives me more rest to get rid of this cold been fighting last few days and to make matters worse I sneezed hard and managed to strain my intercostal muscle on my left side so every time I sneeze or cough I scream like Im being murdered. Nurse said nothing can do but take ibuprofen or Tylenol and do deep breathing exercises to stretch and strengthen the muscle and may take few days to couple weeks to heal.

Had one of our Lease/OO get behind me going through a scale today and biotched at me to go faster when the limit was 30 mph….guessing he was one of those OOs with the logic that think they can’t make money driving speed limits….
