We use a queen size air mattress so it's not as far to the ground as a pad and sleeping bag....LOL

I have a cobra that was given to me but no mounting bracket, I reckon I'll have to track one down so I can have it installed.

Ya, change is big... Left my last career (13+ years at last job and 20+ years in that field) and currently in that first year learning curve too.

And yes, plenty of folks both here (this TTR thread) and at Abilene in general that will help you along the way.

And yes, the ups and downs are plenty but that's true of life in general and at any company.

Still, overall, it's a good place to be and many awesome folks to get to know.

    Stay Safe,
    MD

I believe all the Abilene trucks are all set up with grab and go type mounts so that you can easily move your CB from one rig to another without much hassle... My Volvo has a dash mount with a strap that holds the CB in place.

Not sure what the other Makes/Models have but you might want to hold off purchasing anything until you confirm that you need it.

I haven't had to as of yet, but I heard you do a lot of unpaid sitting? Don't know if it's true or not.

Pretty simple stuff, really. Meat, potatoes, veggies. Lots of veggies. Cook on a George Forman grill, in a crockpot, or even in the microwave. I know one guy who has one of those burners that don't get hot to the touch(no idea what it's called) and a skillet/pot set as well as all the above mentioned stuff. I usually cook two or three different meats at a time if I'm grilling so I don't have the clean up hassle every day. When hubby is with me, he does the cooking & cleaning up. I really miss him!!

I would get your truck before you start buying mounts. The Volvos I had, had a place on the dash for CBs. All I had to do was strap it down and hook up. I didn't need anything extra.

Yes, you'd be correct. Good light load, sitting isn't too bad. I did have a 15 hour layover but I've been paid for it. Memphis to tampa, to memphis to Oklahoma City, to memphis to tulsa, back to memphis.

I've heard from a few drivers doing those mail loads that it's nothing but chaos and confusion, along with a boatload of sitting. After listening to their constant biotching, I fully understand why the Feds have to drop a billion dollars per quarter to subsidize that anchor called a service. Please, privatize it already.

There you go making sense where there is none to be made when it comes to our government. Trust me I just finished with the Navy where common sense is not authorized or aloud

Very true. But guess what I got? Yup .. no 5 in a row. Supposed to pickup tomorrow morning. 1:47 on my 70. Pickup 8:48 tonight. And a 700 mile load tomorrow. I'll be stretching it, but I'll get it done
