I heard rumors of some trucks that can exceed 68 ( by more than 1 mph) but had always thought it was just that.

There have been a few "phew" moments when I was glad my truck wasn't one of them.

Well, my new modus operandi is:

East of the Mississippi and in populated areas, 60 to 63.

West of the Mississippi and in rural areas, foot to the floor at a boring 66 to 67. Governed trucks SUCK.

I know this guy was doing at least 74. I mean he flew up in my mirrors, slowed a wee bit to pass and then was gone before you could say boo. At first I thought maybe he's a lease guy, but I don't think the 14s are lease trucks. I guess he's a special guy to have a truck that can go that fast.

I doubt he was given a fast truck on purpose. It's quite likely the truck had work done at the dealer and the speed restriction was removed unintentionally and not noticed.

Might be why he slowed up when passing you so it wouldn't be as obvious.

Then again maybe it was lease or owner op driving on older tractor. I've seen an odd colored volvo pulling our trailers. Looks like it was once a green company truck that had silver stripes added to it. My first thought was that someone bought a company truck and leased back on.

It gets a bit annoying when trying to pass someone going 1 mph slower than you but otherwise I don't mind.

Im convinced that the governor has saved my skin at least once.

My GPS reads 66/67 when maxed out.

When being passed by someone going 1/2 mph faster than me I will back off it a bit just to let him get around me. Nothing worse for everyone around than witnessing the race between the tortoise and the turtle.
