    Not that clean cut...

The federal per diem of $59 is a daily rate
The company adjustment is per miles driven.

So if you are OTR but sitting for a day you still get the $59 off taxes but didn't have any adjustment made to your income because you didn't get paid any mileage.

So it can't be a fixed % of anything.

But, I have been known to "misunderstand" things at this company ... Not sure how that happens... LOL ... ;-)

I'm thinking, if that is even possible, the 85% is a standard number. I have used that formula to check the numbers from time to time. Also, if I'm away from home for 2 weeks, shouldn't I be entitled to 14 x 59 x 85%?

Just got back from a couple hours for the physical, drug test and hpe. All went well. Kind of funny though, I've never had a DOT physical without getting the medical card handed to me when finished. When I was told they were mailing it to AME, I questioned them. Then I called Rusty and left a message. As this place was over an hour from me, I told him I'd stay in the parking lot until I was sure .... lol ... Called back after a few minutes and Trish assured me that it was being mailed to AME and I'd get it at orientation. I thanked her because the first thought I had was man, I'm driving down there and the last thing I wanted was to be asked where's you med card? LOL

As for the per diem, honestly folks, I'm not going to worry about it much. After all I've been through, all I've lost and where I am now? I'll just be happy to be earning an income again. Much as I hate repeating myself, I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity. :)

I was sent a link to fill out online, all the paperwork normally done at orientation. Ohhhh ... OK, I'll do it but I refuse to be held responsible for the way my signature looks when done with a mouse! I can't do that for beans! :biggrin_25512: ... lol

Good deal. Don't worry about the per diem, or the medical card. The reason they mail it is because a few years ago they had a rash of people come in, go through orientation, then quit. All they wanted was the medical card. By the time you head out, the card will be in your possession.

Yeah I figured as much. Makes sense to me. When I first got there they had no idea I was sent by Abilene (Rusty warned me that might happen and told me to call him if so), so I asked them how much it was. I figured if push came to shove I'd cover it confident they'd pay me back. It's not cheap when you add the individual parts together. Having been self employed my whole life, I tend to think like that too.

Why would anyone bother doing that?

You can walk into any place that does DOT Med Exams, and get your own card. I haven't driven in years, but I keep my Med Card, HM/TWIC and everything else current.

Busy day today....sitting here a stones throw from mexico in nogalas az watching the last 40 minutes of my 14 disappear. Good thing this is a team truck!

I got both drops off in phoenix this am and headed here. And instead of making drops in cali, or going to colton, gotta meet someone for a swap once we ever get loaded here and most likely turn and burn back east.

I also managed to find a good old fashioned thunderstorm/downlour here in the desert early this am
