Had a regional job 90 miles away. Would park at the terminal and leave the car. I’ve always bought beaters from the local auction. Average was $300, most expensive was $1000. Bare minimum liability. Usually run them for a year or so and when they blow up, call the people who buy junk cars who will pay you $100 for the car. The best one was this POS 84 Skylark. $300 and drove it 3 years. Never broke down, but in typical GM fashion, EVERYTHING fell apart. Windows, doors handles, glove box, locks, hood, trunk…etc.
My main vehicles were always lifted Chevy 4x4s. I didn’t want to drive them 90 miles to sit in a dusty lot.
