For you drivers that are checking your brake lights from IN you cab. How do you know that your brake lights are coming on both sides of trailer. I'll bet you can't see the lights on the back of your truck.
Oh I suppose you removed them so the DOT can't tell you they aren't working. :biggrin_25523:

My truck has a light checker switch. Just turn it on and all come on but really if you don't have enough common sense to know how to check your brake lights Ito have a hard road ahead of you

This has thread has been a real eye opener. It's scary to realize that almost nobody actually checks brake stroke.

Braketechtools. Nice assortment of tools for the DIY minded trucker. I thought the OP was referring to brake lights.........and wasn't going to dignify that with a response. The idea that someone can't figure that out and is going to be motoring about our highways really irks me.

Honestly though IMO The fact that the OP can't figure out that if he puts something on the brake pedal he can easily check the brake lights really concerns me that he's motoring around with 80,000 pounds. Common sense and basic problem solving skills are lacking for this simple situation what's OP going to do when a really emergency pops up on the road way?

Whatever happened to: "there's no such thing as a stupid question". Obviously the best way to learn is to ask questions and if I'm not mistaken this forum was created with that in mind. So that we, as a community, can increase each other's knowledge.

The op is asking a question that seems pretty simple to figure out, but there is nothing wrong with that. Would you rather the op not ask for fear of being ridiculed? You should all be ashamed of yourselves for poking fun rather than bettering your fellow driver. There are very few people who will help out drivers, so why should we turn on each other?

Making the assumption that the op will be an unsafe driver based of the fact that the op is unsure of how to check his/her brake lights is preposterous. For all we know the op is as safe a driver as any and just needs a little help with this particular subject.

To those of you who have offered help to the op: my hats off to you. But for the rest, maybe you should check your ego and remember that at some point you too have probably asked a stupid question and your experienced brethren helped you out rather than ridiculed you.

That could have gone unsaid; in fact you might have thanked the one person who went to bat for you.

I added a emotion so its more obvious I'm just joking ,see the joke is he condemns everyone for being rude but never posts how to check the brake lights himself. So I'm insinuating that hes getting defensive because he himself does not know how to check his brake lights .
