About to take the big step: Hiring a Driver for my Rig. Give me Pointers

    Just be aware that when you put a driver in your other truck and continue to drive your current truck that the work load seems like it would double but for me it was more like triple the work. Not to mention that you really SHOULD be paying the proper taxes since he is an employee and that stuff takes time and money too. I found out between the extra time it took me to do the extra paperwork, deal with driver issues, and find extra loads that my productivity went down and at the end of the day I wasn't really making much more with two trucks than I had been with just myself. For me personally it just wasn't worth the headaches. I've pretty much decided to either stay a one man show (most likely) or in the event I want to be a "real" trucking concern I must get to 5-6 trucks quickly so I can just manage the business from a fixed location.
