I have NOT posted a single rumor about any company.

Do your own research; for example simply do a Google research fro Stevens, and see what's out there. Good, and bad, just like any other company. Also, if talking to Stevens drivers in person is starting a rumor then you need to take about ten steps backwards, and re-educate your self on just exactly what Facts are. I suggest starting with this fact: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/fact .

As far as my career goes, and the employer I may end up with that's totally my information that's in my pocket until I sign paperwork saying I work there. If you had the opportunity to work for, and do, the best job you ever wanted available to you, would you allow somebody else take that away from you? I doubt it.

Also, why do I get the impression that this entire forum website is created by, and manned by, trucking company recruiters?

rumor, 2nd and third hand information... using ripoff.com as fact.... repeating what another person says, is NOT fact, but 2nd hand information. YOu made the statement, that everyone you had talked to hates stevens.... but the statement is false, as many on TTR have told you otherwise, yet you continue the statement...

No I am not a requiter, and neither are any of the others who have answer you in this thread... How do I know, I have met many of them in person, and they have met the others...

If you really have another company to go to, then why are you HERE?

Come on name the company, if it is such a sweet job that you are already half way there, who is going to take it from you.... come on name the company.

Pay particular attention to number 2

    Rumor:
    1. a story or statement in general circulation without confirmation or certainty as to facts
    2. gossip; hearsay
    3. a continuous, confused noise; clamor; din.

The old, "everyone here is a recruiter" defense!

    1. Actually information gained, from another website, is considered research.

2.There's no recruiters here-I find that very hard to believe having read information here that can only be gained by being a recruiter.

    3. Every post here does pretty much go directly back to a conversation I had months ago with a tenured truck driver when I asked him if I would be dealing with folks with a 12th grade education, and he responded "If that much."

You guys are really mucking up my thread. If you guys want to fight figure out where you all live and put the gloves on or start a new thread or just play nice.

    Thanks
And btw this is a happy thread as in me I am changing careers and choosing stevens as the company I will work for to gain experience the first year then depending on things move on to tanker work.

To team stevens pays .36 to each driver with 0-1 year experience and split miles. So 5k miles each driver will get .36@2500 miles. Not bad for a newb right out of the gate in a condo. Or .26 at same experience level in a condo.

I am considering teaming the first year as the money will be quite a bit better and I will get even more experience as there will be more miles traveled.

Any of you stevens guys team or know anyone teaming with stevens that would be willing to share your experience?

If your are considering teaming. Please choose your teammate carefully. Living in an 8x8 box for months at a time can be considered cruel and unusual punishment.
I have seen best friends of 10-15 years end up hating each other after 3 months in a truck together.

Me personally, Would never team, and will never train. I love being a solo driver.

IMO the best teams are husband wife teams. All the income goes to one household. That and if your married you should be compatible in a truck.
Done right a couple could retire in 10-15 years. with plenty in the bank.

my first truck driving job was with Stevens....I tell people that you will not get a better understanding and training from any other trucking company. They do not miss a single thing...As any job the newbe inexperienced guy starts low in pay..but Stevens will run you as hard as you want to be ran... Part of success is the relationship with a driver and driver manager. You must have that understanding so they know what you want and when you want it..It also goes the same with the Manager...working as a team instead of me me me.... I went through 4 driver managers at Stevens before i found one that worked for me.....Another thing about Stevens is they inspect every single truck when it comes back to the Dallas yard....so safety is very high there...
