Dropped in Kaukauna this morning, INDOORS! got to love the consignee's who have nice BIG drive in wharehouse that you can stay warm and roll up your tarps nice and tight in.
I am now on a nice 1600 mile run. Went to Iron Mountain and picked up a 2 stop relay for MA and ME. I will get to add about 5 states to my list of having touched in one form or another. That includes driving and flying. Although, I am routed through Canada. Guess I am on the short list for Canada now. :)

HHMMMM, so sitting in New York and noticed I am 7 hours away from first stop. Checked map and by going through Canada I cut off about 150+ miles. So anyone know how Roehl works that out? Save them the money by using less fuel but lose the miles and yes I know I got $50 but I am greedy. :biggrin_25522:

don't think about it and you won't realize you're getting the short end. Focus on getting empty and reloaded. That is my advice, the kind of advice I couldn't give when I was dispatching. If you really focus on how many miles you don't get paid you'll end up driving yourself crazy.

    Treefork Thanks this.

Melton is right. Not to mention 150 doesn't make 50 extra bucks. Some things are better left un annylized. Lol

Yeah good point, the 50 bucks actually covers the miles. So think of it like getting paid to not run an extra 150 miles.

I will guarantee you they get paid the 150 miles. They will get paid to run in the states but pay the driver to run through Canada. I picked up a load of paper in NH going to MN. On the top of the bills was the miles being paid. It was about 200 miles less than I was getting. The extra fifty bucks didn't make up for running US 2 west in the winter and dealing with the border BS.

that 50.00 bucks isnt worth the hassle with the calls to the broker and the faxing of documents to get back out with a load. just my opinion, now if your just going through canada as a short cut its not to bad.

I always would get close to border and send in a fuel request, always kept me in the
    good ole U.S.A !

    Meltom and dorset Thank this.

If you figure out the what Roehl received and what they paid me to run, I think they save some. Yes, on the brightside, $50 is $50. For Roehl, they get paid the extra 150 or so miles and the Tolls for running 90 etc. Does it even out? I don't know for sure, but if they say go through Canada, I'll take the $50 and go through Canada.

As for the load, got to stop 1 the night before. Woke up, untarped and waited for the boom truck. AH, boom trucks. Took almost 3 hours to get unloaded. One pallet up to second floor, unstack, boom back down. REPEAT And to make it even better, the weather sucked. Was a slight drizzle and I was able to keep the load pretty dry. Just as we finished, the boom truck restacked my load. IT POURED!!!

Let's just say, Certainteed would not be very happy, but what could I do? Drive up to Maine for the Consignee, after untarping and putting everything away. Unload the remainder of the trailer in 15 minutes. I was there about one hour total. And I will say it, I like the countryside of Maine, but I don't like the small streets. Had to back in off of a small side street into a fenced in area, big enough for maybe one and a half cars, and then into the building. Basically, 270 degree back job while watching for cars and trucks returning to the shop that I was blocking from entering.:biggrin_2559:
