Those Metroliners have to be balanced for flight just like other aircraft.
If you think that’s terrifying try flying on an “Island Hopper” service across Hawai’i-in a Cessna Caravan-while the trade winds are blowing across the islands and the straits!

I think my pilot was around 180, I was 120 that makes 300 and the suitcase about 70 more in the small cubby behind the seat and behind the wings which created a issue with the Cessna 152 in those days. She took it ok, but stall was around 72 instead of 64 and you had to mind the trim to lift the tail a bit more. She didnt like to fly like that much, but she took it. A skyhawk 172 or a Archer would have no problems at our weight but they were not availible because the rentals had them up in the air with other customers. The Archer in particular with the 180 engine left quite a impression. Close to being inside a nice car in good weather.

And Cessna 150/152 aircraft had a reputation for being sensitive to weight and balance/center of gravity issues,partially because they were unpowered!
