That would have to be it. I can't think of anything I did that night that would have pissed someone off. Oh well.

Ahhhh, good old Davenport, Ia.... im there atleast twice a week...... As mentioned, never, ever, ever Get in a RUSH or allow someone to RUSH you. When in doubt get back out and check again before pulling off....There is no penalty for OVER SECUREMENT.... If you got it, Use it, Because if something happens and you didnt use what you had, HOW WOULD YOU FEEL ?? Dont ever listen to other DRIVERS saying "You dont need that much securement", Secure the #### thing so that if the Trailer flips over, everything is still tied to the Trailer, Be safe Driver!!!

we alway double chained our coils. One forward, one back.

He would have needed 18 chains and binders to do that and I dont know about you but I only carry 12 of each. I would have double chained the front and back coils and put singles on all the others myself, but thats me. Just remember that in flatbedding there are more than 1 way to get the job done.

Actually ten thats all i had which is why i threw two straps on the back one because i didn't have another chain or i wouldve double chained the back one too like i did the front one

When I drove flats, we had 18 chains and binders as well as 24 straps.
smoke tarp for PVC pipe, single 12X50 steel tarp and a pair of 8 foot box tarps.
Along with about 200 rubber straps. -
well if you are going to go from van or something I want to suggest the #-1 thing is if you think you can move the load with the clutch ~ you have to completely re-strap it somehow - the driver is ultimately responsible for what happens with that so any "roll" of any kind really needs dunnage [ wood ] nailed to keep it from rolling as well as enough straps to hold it down anyway
never - never - never let someone in the yard who does not have to eat on the insurance or stand there on a DPS / CMV moment ever tell you anything that crowds you as once you pull off the yard there is often no longer power-equipment to move it and those persons do not realize that.....
you WILL check the load often or stay where you are at.....shortest route is the rule I keep in my mind for binders and straps -- if you do not route it that way then if it can move at all is no good so you try to visualize if it had moved already and tighten it there [!]
