Am I at risk of having a blow out?.

That tire will make it to a shop, however take a tire gauge and measure the remaining tread at that location, is it less than 2/32 if it is and it does appear to be so you can be put OOS by the DOT

 

DOT is putting him OOS for that regardless of tread depth. I am sure there are cords showing.

EDIT: Approaching the end of its' life......I am still chuckling over that. That was a good one.

 

Any cords showing, any delamination you are OOS.

Think about that passenger car passing your tire. Do you want a blow out next to someones door? How about tossing a gater in a open window? Get that thing replaced before it costs you more.

 

C'mon, guys... That's the new "Low Resistance Aqua Tire", meant to reduce friction by letting the tire sail OVER the water...

 

I prefer to run 110 psi. Some drivers even run 120.

 

Tire manufacturers tend to dispute that.

 

RIP Mr. Tire. You're a dead tire rolling. Flat or blown. Might as well go out with a BANG. Run it till it booms or disintegrates. Then put a cheap arse, mismatched, well used cap on it.

Oh wait! It's not on a UIIA interchange chassis. My bad. Um . . . do the right thing and replace it with one of the same brand, size and tread wear as its mates and;

Sell that one to any steamship line as a replacement tire on a UIIA interchange chassis. They'll buy it and stock it or rotate it onto a chassis that just came in with one shredded. Got plenty of them lined up behind the shop waiting for a good U.S. Maypop to come in to replace the Yoko Run Shredded with.

Give that poor old tire some last dignity and let it run it's life through. Sell it to a steamship line as a "quality used tire" for one of their container chassis. They'll buy it and Mr. Tire gets to live on a while before going to the great tire heap in the sky. Might be one mile, one trip or fifty. Never know. But Mr. Tire has a right to as much life as he has in him and by Golly any steamship line will give it to him.

God forgive me, but yes, sometimes I wish I had a switch that I could toggle a blowout. The 4 wheeler that is driving about .00025 mph faster than me, and taking 25 miles to pass me. I am sorry, but some people are just too ignorant to be on the road.

Yes, yes, I could slow down (and I often do), but ####!

I know I will get flamed for not "being a professional", but....oh, well.

 

Thats a valid complaint, but 90% of the time, it's two company trucks doing that rather than a fourwheeler.
