What’s the big deal? So you have some company for a few days. I train people all the time and I don’t get paid extra for it. Who cares? I get to teach someone the right way to do the job, which in the end, makes my life easier down the road.

Not to mention I get a little help for once. I enjoy it, to be honest.

It's a bottom of the Barrel job,
Run by a bottom of the barrel owner,
Who can only get bottom of the barrel drivers,
To put with the bottom of the barrel wages.

There's a whole bunch of these places nationwide.
Usually in rural ares where there's not many
    Options for a driver.

If you quit today he wouldn't lose minutes sleep.

Why do you work there? What's so great about the job that you don't move to a different company?

Nice guys get abused in trucking.
Haven't you noticed most of us are ### holes.
That's because we've been thru all the crap
    You ##### about everyday.

Learn to say NO, and stand by it.
Be prepared to move on if you have to.
Next time they want you to do something
Extra for free, say no the first time, unless
    There's extra pay involved.

That way they know the boundaries.
Never let them know that you need them,
    Even if you do.
Or you'll get stuck doing all the #### work or
In your case training drivers everyweek
    For free.

I won't even pick up a broke down driver and
Bring him 200 miles back to the terminal.
    Unless it's a woman.

So in addition to completing the work he was hired to do, if the boss hands him a shovel and says to dig a ditch across the parking lot, or tells him to clean up the bathrooms, or orders him to do the monthly financial statements for the company regardless if he's qualified or not, he should just do it because he is being paid to work and his boss didn't tell him those things "wouldn't" be part of the job?

You should march right in into the office and tell them who’s boss.

    Yes!

99% of the company drivers are part of non-union, non-skill trade at-will employment.

They are general labor licensed to drive a truck as much as there is general labor to run a forklift, all of it is subject to the needs of the company.

Morale of the story, it’s your choice.

If you don’t get what you want, just walk away. You got to have a reasonable compensation though. If you ask him $100 day extra just for training people, that’s $700 a week extra pay and that is very unrealistic.

Sometimes people need to learn how to walk away man. It’s the best negotiation tactic because in the end, you’re not getting what you want and you’ve got your eyes set for something better. Sometimes, your boss, the car dealership or a woman is the one that will chase after you. Just quit, walk away.

There’s two ways you can achieve a goal. Approach it and come to it. Or walk away and it will come to you. The irony of patience is that nothing will come to you. If you walk forward you won’t miss the chances, if you walk away you won’t miss a new opportunity. If you sit there, you will miss 100% of your chances.

It’s Sunday. You know your boss is at home, relaxing with family, etc. now is the time to interrupt him and make your demands. Call now and make ultimatums.
