With Google voice, you can tie multiple phones to one number. I'm thinking of transferring my primary number there rather than my new carrier ahen I close my AT&T account.that way I'll always have it. They call that number, google forwards it to your current device. it's a free service.

Get rid of the data stick! Verizon now has a deal $29 for US data, you can add Canadian data for $34. Must be a business account.

Also you can add 800 numbers to your my5. Another good option if calling home a lot is to get a magicjack with an American number, and add that to your my5. Never use any minutes calling home(while in the states).

I used MajicJack for almost a year. No matter where I was I was starting the discution on MagicJack and then hang up and grab my cell. Was impossible to have a decent conversation on MagicJack.

But u made me curious about the data stick. What do u mean with $29 for USA and add $34 for Canadian ??? If I get rid of the stick how am I gona surf the web on my laptop ?
On my DroidX surfing the web is quite difficult. I think I will get rid of the Droid and buy a tablet coz the Droid screen is way too small to surf the web.

You only get 250 Mb with that Allan,

Currently in this dilemma, as I have just received word that once my current contract is up My unlimited data package on my Android will be removed and out of us data roaming will be $34.00 for 250 Mb and a ridiculous cost per Mb for everything above that...

For phone I have to agree that Verizon is the way to go for Canada/US
    trucking.

The only place that has poor service is through Northern Ontario, and I dont know that anyone gets good service through there...

ragtopjr, I heard that too but I'm not sure if is true or not. I can say that nobody will take your unlimited plan from your phone unless u wana quit the plan. Doesn't matter if your contract is up or not. As long as u pay and keep the plan they cannot take it from u.
And yes, in the North of Ontario is a such bad signal. Internet i cannot use and the cell signal is poor.

i think judge is right--my contract is up--and it stayed the same--although they phone daily for me to upgrade phone --wich would put me under a new contract--mind you i only have phone us/canada--nothing else

I also have a friend that still has a REAL UNLIMITED data broadband card from....Cingular. It is unlimited (the real meaning of unlimited word) and nobody can take it from him. They tried to trapp him in various ways to change the plan but he refused every offer and nobody can do anything to him.

I was thinkin instead of having unlimited internet on my Droid X to buy a tablet from Motorola and have that unlimited plan on the tablet. But I'm not sure if it works the same way with tablets.
Anyway my broadband card I will keep it till I will quit truckin. I think it is the best deal I've done having 5GB USA+Canada. The Droid X and the unlimited plan was just a trifle-reward for myself. It doesnt help me that much but is a great toy to play with.

I have spoken with Customer Service, then to their Manager, and now up to a Global Manager, and according to them anyone who is still under contract will be exempt...Until that contract expires at which time they will have the unlimited taken away....

I voiced my opinion about that and was told, that in the fine print there was a statement allowing them to change the policy at any time...:biggrin_2557:

    ########....
Is true, I didn't check the last contract. The first one (wich I changed dam'it) was no "chage the policy" whatsoever.
At the end of my contract if they start with tricks I will just go back to my regular plan without internet for the phone.
Thanx for letting me know about it.

With a business account you can get unlimited Canadian data for $34 a month. Call Eric Larson at 218-791-5200 to see what he can do for you, he's the one that set it up for us. He's in Grand Forks. Payne set up a business account with him, they assumed my account and bill me directly. That's the only way to get unlimited in Canada.

    I have:

    900 NA minutes $79.99
    Unlimited US data $29.99
    Unlimited CDN data $34.00
250 texts $5 (unknown if this covers Canada as well, it should!)

With the my5 you can set up 1-800 numbers, so I have my company number on the my5. I also have my magicjack number at home so I can call home for free while in the states. I doubt I'll ever use the 900 minutes, but you don't get the my5 with 450 minutes. I plan on "modifying" the phone so I can tether, but to be honest the thunderbolts browser is so good I almost don't have to.

Another thing is they changed the Canada data plans, now it's:

    75 MB $30/month
    200 MB $100/month

    http://b2b.vzw.com/international/GlobalData/rates_coverage.html

I have a friend who had the 250 MB plan, they bumped him down to 200 MB but gave him a free iphone 4. Now he's going to switch to unlimited, talk about screwing them hard!

BTW how's the ticker doing? Who do you work for?
