You are wrong. I think it's Sask, that requires a tractor every 6 months because of the 5th wheel. That may have changed by now.
Sask. recognizes all American that have up to date safeties regardless if they are Canadian or American. You don't think that an American truck has to stop at North Portal for a safety do you?
Here you go. Even Mexico is recognized. Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Saskatchewan is a member of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA), as are the other provinces and territories in Canada, the United States, Mexico and Puerto Rico. CVSA offers a uniform methodology for inspecting large vehicles and a criteria under which unsafe vehicles and drivers are removed from the road. Vehicles passing the CVSA inspection are given a decal which is recognized by all member jurisdictions for 3 months after the inspection. Saskatchewan Traffic Officers currently perform thousands of CVSA and other vehicle inspections every year while patrolling provincial highways and at weigh scale inspection stations.
Commercial power units (A, C, D or LV) 6 months - Registered at 11,794 kg or higher. - Operating extra-provincially. - Requirements vary by jurisdiction. To ensure compliance, check the jurisdiction you are travelling in.
We have gotten four trailers put out of service for not having cdn safeties, but all had valid American ones. Don't know what to tell you, moosomin scale.
Spoke to LEO at moosomin scale today via telephone. He stated that any Canadian plated truck or trailer must have a valid annual Canadian safety inspection sticker. US plated trucks and trailers that have a US inspection safety sticker will be accepted. So if the truck or trailer has a Canadian plate it will be put OOS if it has a US annual safety certificate.
