First for most I want to thank you all for the time you’ve taking to send some suggested companies my way it’s helped me apply to more companies.
I’m catching hell. I’m still staying positive but right now no one is hiring me. All companies are either on hiring freeze in Florida (mainly especially I’m too far south they say being in miami) and or I don’t have enough driving experience minimum 6 months. It’s seems there’s an issue with the insurance companies with inexperienced drivers in Florida. It looms like recent grads have better chances than I do.
major companies told me hiring freeze in Florida or that miami is too far out the hiring zone.
local companies said not enough experience. At least 6 months recent experience
I’ve tried food companies Sysco us foods Gordon they all declined me. Im waiting on one Sysco shuttle application looks like it’s still pending
also pending is Pepsi. Coca Cola declined me.
I thought of paying for a refresher course but idk if that will solve anything. I was also thinking of garbage truck driver but that’s class b I didn’t want to gain all that time there and not get credit for a tractor trailer experience once I made months there if that was an option. Usually applications ask for tractor trailer experience.
could it be it’s summer and the market is slow
not sure what options I have. Any suggestion.
RECAP:
- Obtain Cdl 2021
- Drove for Werner for 3 months so says the dac report 6/2021 - 9/2021 ( really only did 1 month passed training just didn’t go thru with truck wasn’t ready)
- I have all my endorsements also have twic no manual
- 1/2017 - reckless driving non cmv 6 years ago
- 1/2017 - had suspended license also 6 years ago for refusing breath test automatic suspension. Non cmv

You might just make the cut with this one...nothing ventured, nothing gained:
Florida Produce 5.5 Days Out - Kottke Trucking, Inc. (kottke-trucking.com)
Judging from the listed requirements -- they should (on paper, at least) take/consider an inexperienced CDL holder.
Footnote: I got my CDL back in May of 2017....yet didn't start driving with it until February of 2019 (at Schneider). A "delayed start" is indeed doable -- part of your problem at present is you are trying to begin (again) in a depressed freight market. Thus -- carriers are more picky now.
-- L77fib77, ducnut and Wildoutlaw360 Thank this. -
You could just get out of Miami, that'll help a lot.
That is a tip of the freight dead zone called Florida. -
