I parked on the ramp last night and went to sleep. That particular one, has very little traffic so it wasn't risky at all. I think it's a little unfair to totally blame the trucker for being parked on the shoulder. I mean surely if you have a license you can see a great big semi. Folks don't pay attention to a thing.

Yes I do. All the time. Nice observation..I mean...past 6 pm, what are you to do? Trucks stops and rest areas are full. I don't even really like sleeping at truck stops for real. Some are ok, but most are not ok. The ones with a lot of space and easy parking, sure. I have criteria for where I park. It ain't even every ramp I'll use. Some are safer than others. I've been out here a while so I know which ones are ok if I can't get to any of my hideouts. Yes it sounds nice to not park on the ramp, but sometimes there is no choice. Some of you will disagree amd that's fine.

Parking in general is getting insane. I do my best to find spots where any person with any sort of thinking ability won't block me. I am not even talking about late night full creative talking. I am talking stupid. The kind of stupid that would have put people in some class of brain-not-working insane asylum a few years ago. We all have stories. It's getting out of hand.

The shoulder is not the "travelled portion," it's the shoulder. How about these idiots stay in the driving lane?

Not if they're looking at their phone, infotainment system, and GPS.

At a certain point, no pucker is powerful enough to restrain the flow.... it just becomes a nozzle.

In the state of Va, parking on shoulders of an Interstate or the ramps, can result in getting a citation for "Disobeying Highway Signs" and it carries with it a fine, plus court costs and 3 points.

Bud A. and mjd4277 Thank this.
