I can understand about the French fry thing There's a reason I'm a truck driver. That's because I don't do the people thing very well. I never herd you beg for nothing. All I herd was a guy trying to make his life better and willing to start at the bottom to do it. Doing the Mr mom thing takes a lot of responsibility and character that is a very good reason to hold your head up, I'm sure that your next employer will appreciate that.

Hey Mr Mom.....can't blame you for passing on a job at BK...no thank you ! Being Mr Mom is something to be proud of, don't feel the need to hide that....you have the right attitude so if you are going to get into this career, have it at.
First, i'D call Swift.....I had the same problem, perfect work history from 1994-2004, then my wife and I had a little home business until 2007. Hence, no job history for 3 years. They had me print up a letter saying I had not worked in the past 3 years, have 2 people sign them and get them notarized and that was that. I've been out for 18 months and once I get 2-3 years in, keep my DAC clean, I should be able to do alright in this business. My options should be wide open....key being to stay clean, no accidents or tickets. Swift has a flatbed division so I'd look into that. I have enjoyed Swift, everyone seems to knock them, but I get all the miles I need and have a great DM. Swift has a terminal in Gary and another one in Manteno Ill......not sure if you can school there but you can sure try. Call ##########, that's the swift headquarters in Phoenix........
They can even finance/train you to get you your CDL if you can't pay for it yourself.
Best of luck to you.....I'll check back to see what you're up to.

Being a Mr. Mom is a noble profession!! Offer no apologies!!

I do not know your history, but here goes and I hope this helps.

Try your local job service. Get registered. Then ask about any training programs you might qualify for. They have a lot of programs for women, who have been out of the workforce for extended periods of time, you might qualify for them as well.

Are you a veteran? Don't forget about your GI benefits!!

Sounds like you might qualify for "economically disadvantaged" money or programs.

Good luck and I hope that helps!!
