Any companies still run manual transmissions?

Do you have to put it in drive before you put it in reverse?

Try it either way. I myself am going by what I've learned from fellow drivers with Cascadias. I've only been in mine about 3 weeks. I still think you may have some issues with your truck, maybe some wonky programming or something.

If you’re running paved road a manual transmission is not required other than to assure the delicate flower of his masculinity,,, which is not a truck driver but a “poser”

It's not a balls thing, preprogramed autos with no option to manually control the shift points; climb hills slow, they come to a complete stop 3 or 4 times when trying to make a slow speed maneuver fully loaded and there is a 3 second gap between putting your foot on the throttle at a dead stop and the truck moving.

I drove tankers for 2 years and I couldn't imagine the beating you take with an auto. I could time the shifts pretty good with the wave, cant do that with an auto. One company I'm looking at is a tanker company that still runs manuals but governed at 62.

If you can't control it, you shouldn't be driving it!

I hate the auto trans in my 2017 Silverado
It can’t decide what gear it wants to be in and shifts for maximum mpg as soon as the wheels roll over once it starts trying to get to the top gear.

I can only imagine how frustrating it must be to drive a big truck with a stupid automatic that can’t ever decide what gear to use.
The only reason they started using automatic in school busses was so they could hire women.

    That's old auto technology.

The Volvo I'm driving has a dd13 and 12 spd auto. The 12 Spd auto is more of an automated manual than an automatic. It has a kick down on the accelerator pedal, a gear hold on the side of the seat, manual upshift/downshift buttons, hill start assist, and engines brake. It works flawlessly. If I didn't tell you it was an auto, you would swear I was shifting manually. I'm sold.
