The key word is GUIDANCE. I'm fairly certain that not every D.O.T. cop or scale house is going to hold drivers to the same standard. However, if you are logging your miles near, at or above the speed limit, you can expect questions during a logbook inspection and/or audit. Most companies require drivers to log at several mph below the posted speed limit, as Boardhauler pointed out.

If you're running an EOBR, there's nothing you can do about how you log your miles but if you're running a paper log, you have some flexibility. My logbooks are always legal and always indicate that my average speeds are several mph below the appropriate speed limits, even if I have to re-write them several times per day. I've never had a logbook violation and when I get called into a scalehouse, I provide the officer with no reason to go looking for things that 'might' be wrong.

You've been driving for awhile so you must realize there are many 'revenue rangers' out there looking to lighten your wallet. I choose not to make it any easier for them than is necessary. What you do, obviously, is up to you.

well, i can say, that i logged 4000 miles all the time. but i'll tell you what. in real time it was actually 80 hours.

people can brag all they want. but it's reallistically unrealistic. specially in a 62 truck driving the west coast mountains. cuz at the end of the day. your average speed is only 45 to 50 mph.

A big motor and loose leaf coloring book does it every time. Plus it's safe to run a consistent 60 without law enforcement picking on you.

I don't control the loads man. I ran 4000 miles last spring though so its not impressive if you get long runs. Especially going out west where you just keep straight without any traffic or stops. Just roll downhill the whole time.

This is the same "experienced" driver who was having a hard time not hitting anything and whining about it. I'll keep that in mind

To the Gordon driver from the long 'cheerleader' thread (See: My new adventure with Gordon Trucking)--

4314 miles/67 passenger car hours and speeds = 64.38 mph

    Not in any Gordon truck...

    snowwy speaks the truth:

Your avg speed through Riverside-LA may be 15 mph for that!

If anyone wants to debate points brought up in this thread, it stays in this thread. That is all. I'm going back to sleep.
