I know we lost one guy today for med. Dot he had high blood pressure
-
That's always a quick way out.
-
Yeah, that one guy unfortunately was me.
I was pretty bummed out when I got my second reading yesterday. Being sent home yesaterday made for a long drive back to Austin, TX.
The nurse were pretty cool about it, she just told me 1) Go see a doctor back here in Austin, TX. and get on some medication 2) I need to have stable readings for a least 30 days. 3) Send in a docotor's note with a minimum of 3 good readings before returning.
I have set up a docotor's appointment for later today so I can get started on this PDQ. I know I needs to stop smoking and probably loose a few pounds, (I'm about 240 lbs.) All I know is, I will do whatever it takes to get my butt back up there to Prime!
All-n-all I was very impressed with the way Prime's Orentation and screening. The folks there were all pretty cool and shot it to you straight, no B.S.
Some of the guys I did meet there at the Campus Inn that were in orentation seemed pretty cool and I wish them the best in thier new adventure, maybe I'll see them again sometime again later at Prime.
All I know is I want to take care of my B.P. and get my ##### back up to Prime. It seems like I made the best decision to go with them instead of any other truciking company.
Everyone stay safe out there and God bless! -
Work on quitting smoking. Exercise more, if only by walking regularly. Eat a WHOLE lot less sodium - check the nutrition panels on everything you buy - and work on eating food you have to cook. Drinking pomegranate juice and eating bananas, both of which are high in potassium, will help lower your BP. Done together, all of them will help you get your health under control. It takes time and energy, but it is definitely worth it.
Best of luck to you.steadytruckin Thanks this. -
Hey Steadytruckin. Sorry to hear about the high B/P. Do what D D said above and stay away from ALL processed foods, foods that contain corn syrup, fructose, trans fats, gravy, rice, pasta and enriched white flour, to lose weight. If you like bread, go with a loaf of 100% whole wheat brand, brown rice and 100% whole wheat pasta. Oh yeah, and kick the cola habit, too. If you need more help, please feel free to send me a PM.
I know it must have been a kick in the butt to be sent home but it was for a very good reason and perhaps saved your life. High b/p is a small blood vessel disease and left untreated can cause various kinds of strokes, heart attacks, loss of vision, and all the way down to your soldier who will one day fail to stand up and salute. Know what I mean?
Please get healthy. Truly, I look forward to reading about your own Prime Adventure.Last edited: Oct 20, 2011

good luck man
the food in the cafe here couldn't have helped much, think it made me sick earlier in the week
well lets see we've had class since 7am today
first we had a hazardous materials class for like an hour or so. then the real fun one, a 30 minute video on sexual harasment. follow that up with an hour or so on health insurance then an hour on security. that all made for a long almost four and a half hours in the classroom.
lunch, well we basically had mcribs
still have the second part of the pre trip class at 1pm, then we get our pics taken at 4,
they pulled like three or four people out of the class this morning and i haven't seen any of them back yet,
will have a new blog up for the morning part in 10-15 minutes, http://malamut.net -
Big Mut. Tell the roomy he needs to get serious about the CPAP machine. I don't like my CPAP but I use it. If I don't use it, I can sleep 10-12 hours or more and still feel tired. With the CPAP, I'm typically good to go after 6 hours of sleep. Sleep apnea is about the No. of times one stops breathing at night. For me it was 18-27 episodes per night. However, some people can have up to 180 episodes per night or more.
If he takes and uses the CPAP he will feel better, lose some weight, and the machine will lower the risk of cardiac arrest, premature stroke(s) and it will even make him smarter: the brain is not deprived of O2 during his sleeping hours. I don't know about him, but I cannot afford to lose anymore grey matter at this stage of my life.
But then again, you can't make a horse drink the water.
