Stopped using Amazon when Prime no longer meant free two day shipping. Haven’t purchased a thing from them since.

I wouldn’t pull one of their trailers even if it held the cure for cancer at $1000/mile.

Just kidding, I’d be all over that ####.

I am curious what changed on your Prime account. I still get free 2 day shipping and if the item is at a local warehouse I get it the same day or next day for free. Yes the cost of Prime went up to about $120 from $100 per year or so but it is worth every penny not to have to go to the store. Every now and then Walmart.com is slightly cheaper and I will buy certain items from them. Usually if I buy $35 or so the 2 day shipping is free from Walmart, but I still use Amazon for 95%of my online purchases.

The postal service does not receive any funding from taxes. The postal service does have regulations and laws that govern operations, it is not a government agency.

Not sure if it’s because I live out in Montana which isn’t anywhere near a distribution facility or what. We used the #### out of Amazon for a few years until the prices went up, and no more two day deliveries. Some prime things took up to five days, so I cancelled it.

I understand now. I have noticed that some items show Prime, but it has a longer delivery window.

I can understand why they don’t do Prime out there as there is a lot of distance between places in Montana. My Mom and her husband had a place in Ennis that they spent the summers. Bozeman was the nearest city and it was an hour away or thereabouts. It was beautiful out there but was a long trip for about anything.

When those same tax payers stop demanding cheap postage. Every company and individual that uses the usps is "subsidized" by the tax payers.

Some of you guys talk like Amazon and China get free shipping with the usps. That isn't the case at all. What is happening is usps rates are so low they don't cover the actual cost of running the usps.

It is amazing the amount of misinformation floating around about the US Postal Service. The postal service is a private business that is supervised by Congress, but it is not a governmental agency and recieves ZERO tax dollars. The USPS operates completely from the revenue generated by postage.

Now, if I were UPS, FedEx or any other package company what I would be upset about is the relief from regulation the USPS enjoys. They save billions by being exempt from registration, road use and other taxes paid by other motor carriers.

In a way you could say we the taxpayer subsidies their operation by covering their share of road use and other infrastructure use with our user fees, but that is a small price to pay in order to guarantee affordable postage costs and access to shipping throughout the country. The big package guys don't serve underdeveloped areas but USPS does.

Doesn’t the USPS lose billions per year? If the gov doesn’t help fund it then how’s it stay in business?
